You can adjust the size of graphics symbols. For the resizing functionality, a license is required. For more information, refer to: License Import.

Configuring Symbol Size in Preferences

You can adjust the size of graphics symbols for different categories of objects that are displayed in graphics. The width and height are defined in centimeters on the screen or printout. With the smaller value in width or height that you enter in the preferences, you define a square area. However, the symbol of the visualization variant can be a rectangle. The larger side of the symbol is fitted into the square area.

  1. In the menu bar, select Windows > Preferences.
  1. Select Siveillance Control > User Settings > Graphics Settings > Symbols.
  • The predefined sizes for symbol categories are displayed.
  1. Enter values for width and height of symbol categories you want to change.
  1. With the Reset to Default Values button , you can undo unsaved changes and set back to the default values.
  1. Click OK.
  1. Activate the changes on the runtime client. For more information, refer to: Activating Data.
  • All symbols for objects of a category are displayed in graphics in all zoom levels with the defined size.

Configuring Symbol Sizes in Style View

You can adjust the size of a selected graphics symbol.

  • In the Engineering perspective, a graphic with graphic symbols is displayed.
  1. Select the graphic symbol you want to resize.
  1. In the Style view, open the Symbol tab.
  • The symbol category and the values for width and height are displayed.
  1. You can change the following:
  • Width and Height: Enter values in cm.
  • Keep fixed size on zoom: Keep the checkbox marked, if you want the symbol size fixed in all zoom levels. This is the default. Unmark the checkbox, if you want the symbol size to be changed proportional to the zoom level of the graphic.
  • If the Keep fixed size on zoom checkbox is unmarked, the width and height values change to the actual coordinate scale of the corresponding graphic.
  1. With the Undo button , you can undo unsaved changes and set back to the previously saved values.
  1. With the Reset to Default Values button , you can set back to default values defined under Preferences.
  1. Click the Save button .
  • The changed values are applied to the selected symbol.

Configuring Symbol Size by Mouse

You can adjust the size of a selected graphics symbol. You cannot resize a detector symbol with an active message or event.

  • In the Engineering perspective, a graphic with graphic symbols is displayed.
  1. Right-click the graphic symbol you want to change.
  1. Select Resize.
  • The edit mode is activated.
  • No state changes are displayed while the symbol is in edit mode.
  • For proportional scaling four scaling markers are displayed and the cursor changes to scaling. If non-proportional scaling is available, eight scaling markers are displayed. For non-proportional scaling the Keep fixed size on zoom checkbox needs to be unmarked. For more information, refer to: Configuring Symbol Sizes in Style View.
  1. Position the cursor on a scaling marker, press the left mouse button and drag to the desired size.
  1. To end the edit mode without taking over the change, press <Esc>.
  1. To apply the changes, double-click.
  • The edit mode is finished.
  • The changed size is applied to the symbol.

Resetting Symbol Sizes

You can reset the size of a selected graphics symbol to the default values that are defined in preferences.

  • In the Engineering perspective, a graphic with graphic symbols is displayed.
  1. Select the graphic symbol for which you want to reset the size.
  1. In the Style view, open the Symbol tab.
  • The symbol category and the values for width and height are displayed.
  1. Click the Reset to Default Values button .
  • Default values that are defined under Preferences are displayed, and the Keep fixed size on zoom checkbox is marked.
  1. To undo the reset to default values, click the Reset to configured style button .
  • The previously configured values are restored.
  1. Click the Save button .
