Functions from the Context Menu

Some functions are also accessible by opening the context menu.

  • The Cut functionremoves the selected elements from the graphic and copied to the clipboard.
  • The Copy function copies the selected elements to the clipboard.
  • The Paste functionpastes the previously copied elements in the graphic.
  • The Delete functionremoves the selected elements from the graphic.
  • The Group function groupsat least two elements to a symbol.
  • The Ungroup functionbreaks down grouped elements into individual elements again.
  • The Bring Forward function moves the selected elements to the foreground.
  • The Send Backward function moves the selected elements to the background.
  • The Alignment function alignsat least two elements. The following options are available in the submenu:

Align Left

Arranges the selected elements left justified. The reference is the element that is positioned furthest left.

Align Middle

Centers the selected elements horizontally.

Align Right

Arranges the selected elements right justified. The reference is the element that is positioned furthest right.

Align Top

Aligns the selected elements at their upper edge. The reference is the element that is positioned closest to the top.

Align Center

Centers the selected elements are centered vertically.

Align Bottom

Aligns the selected elements at their lower edge. The reference is the element that is positioned closest to the bottom.

Distribute Horizontally

At least three elements have to be selected. They are arranged horizontally at the same distance apart. The outermost elements maintain their position. All elements in between are distributed uniformly.

Distribute Vertically

At least three elements have to be selected. They are arranged vertically at the same distance apart. The outermost elements maintain their position. All elements in between are distributed uniformly.

Same Width

Scales the selected elements to the same width. The reference is the widest element in the selection.

Same Height

Scales the selected elements to the same height. The reference is the highest element in the selection.

Same Width and Height

Scales the selected elements to the same height and width. The references are the highest and widest elements respectively in the selection.

Snap Modes for Mouse Interactions

The use of  Snap To modes ensures a certain precision for mouse interactions in graphics. You can combine snap modes. The following options are available:

  • Snap to Grid Points: The mouse snaps automatically to the next grid point in the graphic for all interactions. Interactions can therefore be aligned precisely to the grid.
  • Snap to Snap Points: The mouse snaps automatically to the next defined symbol snap point for all interactions. These are currently not used in Siveillance Control.
  • Snap to End Points: The mouse snaps automatically to the next end point of the element below the cursor, for example the points on a line, a rectangle or circular arc.
  • Snap to Intersection Points: The mouse snaps automatically to the next point of intersection between two elements below the cursor.
  • Snap to Next Points: The mouse snaps automatically to the next point of the element below the cursor, for example all points along a line or circle.

General Object Properties in Graphics Editors

The Object Properties view of the Graphics Editor displays all attributes of selected elements. You can edit the attribute values. The following attribute categories are possible for General:

General

Attribute

Description

Name

Is an alphanumeric value for identifying elements. This value is displayed in the framework of the Elements tree as text for each element.

Layers

Shows the association with a layer.

Geometry Object Properties in Graphics Editors

In the Object Properties view, the following Geometry attributes are possible:

Attributes for Polypoint Elements

Attribute

Description

Point

Switches between existing points of the element (1 to n)

X

Displays the value of the X coordinate for the selected point.

Y

Displays the value of the Y coordinate for the selected point.

Attributes of Lines

Attribute

Description

X

Displays the value of the X coordinate for the starting point.

X2

Displays the value of the X coordinate for the end point.

Y

Displays the value of the Y coordinate for the starting point.
