In graphics, you can add detection areas for example for detector groups, single detectors or areas. In general detection areas can be annotated to any object in the Location tree or System tree. The default display style of the detection area is defined in Preferences.

Creating Detection Area Contours

  • The Engineering perspective is displayed.
  • The graphic is displayed in the Graphics view.
  • The graphic has been calibrated.
  • In the Location Tree, areas have been created.
  • In the System Tree, detector groups have been created.
  1. In the System Tree or Location Tree, right-click an object and select Create Detection Area Contour.
  1. In the Graphics view, move the cursor to the appropriate position of the first corner point and click the point.
  • The cursor appears as cross with a blue rectangle.
  1. Click the following corner points. Make sure not to overlap any lines, since the enclosed area will then be highlighted in red and not be saved.
  1. Double-click the last corner point of the outline.
  1. To save the detection area contour, click OK.
  1. To cancel the action and not save the outline, click Cancel.

Editing Detection Area Contours

  • The Engineering perspective is displayed.
  • The graphic is displayed in the Graphics view.
  • A detection area has been defined for an object.
  1. In the System Tree or Location Tree, right-click an object with an annotated detection area.
  1. In the Graphics view, to select the detection area contour, left-click on the outer contour line.
  • Selection handles appear on the edge-points of the detection area contour.
  1. Right-click on the contour and select Edit Detection Area Contour.
  1. If you want to edit the existing contour, click No. If you click Yes, the existing contour is removed and you can define a new contour for the detection area.
  1. To delete corner points, complete the following steps:
  • Move the cursor to the point you want to delete.
  • Press Ctrl.
  • Right-click.
  1. To move corner points, complete the following steps:
  • Move the cursor to the point you want to move.
  • Click and hold the left mouse button.
  • Move the mouse to the new position.
  • Release the left mouse button.
  1. To add corner points, complete the following steps:
  • Move the cursor near the line where you want to insert a point.
  • Press and hold Ctrl.
  • Right-click.
  1. Double-click the graphic to save the changes and click OK.

Changing the Style of a Detection Area

  • The Engineering perspective is displayed.
  • The graphic is displayed in the Graphics view.
  • A detection area has been defined for an object.
  1. In the System Tree or Location Tree, right-click an object with an annotated detection area.
  1. In the Graphics view, to select the detection area contour, left-click on the outer contour line.
  • Selection handles appear on the edge-points of the detection area contour.
  • The Style view displays the style settings of the selected detection area.
  1. In the Graphic Attributes tab, you have the following options for Line Style:
  • Style: You can select the style of the frame line.
  • Color: You can define a color of the frame line.
  • Width: You can select the width of the frame line in pixels.
  • Arrow Type: Does not apply.
  • Arrow Size: Does not apply.
  1. In the Graphic Attributes tab, you have the following options for Fill Style:
  • Style: You can select the fill style.
  • Transparent: You can select whether the fill is transparent or not.
  • Color: You can define a fill color.
  • Background Color: Does not apply to detection area settings.
  • Pattern: You can select a pattern for the fill.
  • Gradient: You can select a gradient for the fill.
  1. Font Style does not apply to detection areas
  1. In the Graphic Attributes tab, you have the following options for Other:
  • Visible: The checkbox is selected per default. Clear the checkbox, if you want to remove the detection area from the graphic. Remark: You can only revert to visible, when selecting the detection area object from the Paths and Detection Area view in Access Route Plan perspective.
  1. To save the changed settings, click the Save button.

Deleting Detection Area Contours

  • The Engineering perspective is displayed.
  • The graphic is displayed in the Graphics view.
  • A detection area has been defined for an object.
  1. In the System Tree or Location Tree, right-click an object with an annotated detection area.
  1. In the Graphics view, to select the detection area contour, left-click on the outer contour line.
  • Selection handles appear on the edge-points of the detection area contour.
  1. Right-click on the contour and select Delete Object(s) from Database.
  1. Click Yes.
