  • Print templates
  • Symbols
  • Visualization Variants

You need to save any changes with .

Graphics Tree Functions

The Graphic Tree offers the following functions for configuring graphics:

 

Creating New Graphics

  • The Graphics Tree is displayed.
  • A group of graphics has been created.
  1. Right-click a group of graphics and select Create Graphic.
  1. Enter a name.
  1. Click Finish.

 

Opening and Editing Graphics

  • The Graphics Tree is displayed.
  1. Double-click a graphic to open it.
  1. You have the following options to open and edit a graphic:
  • Right-click a graphic and select Edit Graphic.
  • Double-click the graphic.

 

Saving Edited Graphics

The following options to save graphics are available:

  • Press Ctrl + S.
  • Click  Save.
  • In the Graphics Tree, right-click a graphic and select Save Graphic.

 

Copying Graphics

  • The Graphics Tree is displayed.
  1. Right-click a graphic and select Duplicate Graphic.
  1. Enter a name for the copy.

 

Deleting Graphics

  • The Graphics Tree is displayed.
  1. Right-click a graphic and select Delete Object(s) from Database.
  1. Click Yes.

Drawing Points

  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  • A graphic is displayed.
  1. Click  Draw Points.
  1. Position points by clicking the left mouse button.
  1. Double-click the last point to finish drawing.

Drawing Lines

  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  • A graphic is displayed.
  1. Click  Draw Line.
  1. With the mouse button pressed down, sketch a line.
  1. Release the mouse button.

Drawing Rectangles

  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  • A graphic is displayed.
  1. Click  Draw Rectangle.
  1. With the mouse button pressed down, sketch a rectangle.
  1. Release the mouse button.

Drawing Circles

  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  • A graphic is displayed.
  1. Click  Draw Circle.
  1. With the mouse button pressed down, sketch a circle.
  1. Release the mouse button.

Drawing Ellipses

  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  • A graphic is displayed.
  1. Click  Draw Ellipse.
  1. With the mouse button pressed down, sketch an ellipse.
  1. Release the mouse button.

Drawing Elements with More Points

  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  • A graphic is displayed.
  1. You have the following options to draw an element with more than two points:
  • Click  Draw Polyline.
  • Click  Draw Polygon.
  • Click Draw Open Spline.
  • Click Draw Closed Spline.
  1. Position points by clicking the left mouse button.
  1. Double-click the last point to finish drawing.

Drawing Arcs and Arc Segments

  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  • A graphic is displayed.
  1. You have the following options to draw arcs and arc segments:
  • Click  Draw Arc.
  • Click  Draw Arc Segment.
  • Click  Draw Arc Pie.
  1. With the mouse button pressed down, sketch a radius.
  1. Release the mouse button.
  • The mode changes from radius definition to the definition of the start and end point of an arc or arc segment.
  1. Move the mouse to the end point.
  1. Double-click the end point.

Smoothing Edges

Slanted or curved lines in graphics have a more or less coarse appearance owing to the resolution of the display equipment. You can moderate this effect with the Antialiasing function. However, the graphic then is not displayed as quickly or updated as easily.

  • The Engineering perspective is displayed.
  • A graphic is displayed.
  1. In the toolbar, click the following symbol:
     Antialiasing.
  1. To deactivate the function, click the symbol again.

Selecting Elements

  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  • A graphic is displayed.
  1. Click  Pick Elements.
  1. You have the following options:
  • To select an element, click it.
  • To shift a selected element, move it with the shift cursor.
  • To scale an element, move the handles. When moving the corner handles, the element is scaled proportionally. When moving the side handles, the element is stretched or compressed. Texts are always scaled proportionally.
  • To move individual points of elements that cannot be scaled readily such as points, lines, polygons and splines, click the point and move it.
  • To delete individual points, right-click the required point and press Ctrl.
  • To add points, move the shift cursor to the position where you want to add a point, right-click it and press Ctrl.
  • To select elements in symbols, click  Pick Elements in Symbol. This function is necessary to select individual elements after grouping elements to a symbol, since otherwise the symbol is always selected as a unit.

Rotating Elements

  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  • A graphic is displayed.
  1. Click  Rotate Elements.
  • The mouse cursor is displayed as two twisted arrows.
  1. To rotate the object, drag with the two arrows cursor.
  • The selected element is dragged precisely around the rotation point.
  1. To move the rotation point, move the mouse cursor over the rotation point and drag with the shift cursor.

Mirroring Elements

  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  • A graphic is displayed.
  1. Click  Mirror Elements.
  1. Define the mirror axis by drawing a line with the mouse.
  1. Release the mouse button.
  • The selected elements are mirrored on the mirror axis.

Adding Elements

  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  • A graphic is displayed.
  1. To add symbols, select a symbol in the Symbols view and drag it into the graphic.
  1. To add images, select an image symbol in the Images view and drag it into the graphic.

Adding Texts to Graphics

  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  • A graphic is displayed.
  1. Click  Insert Text.
  1. Click the position in the graphic where you want to add the text.
  1. Enter a text.
  1. Click OK.

Editing Texts in Graphics

  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  • A graphic is displayed.
  1. Click a text.
  1. Enter your changes.
  1. Click OK.

Zooming into Graphics

The zoom function helps editing elements in large graphics in more detail. The following options are available:

  • Zoom level: You can select from predefined zoom levels using . The Picked elements function zooms the area filled by all selected elements. The All elements function zooms the area filled by all elements.
  • Zoom by rectangle: You can define the area to be zoomed by clicking  Zoom By Rectangle and pressing down the mouse button and sketching a rectangle.
  • Mouse Wheel: You can zoom in and out by using the mouse wheel.
  • Scrolling: You can scroll the graphic by using the scrollbars.

Displaying Graphic Elements

The structure of the graphic elements in the active graphic is displayed in the Elements tree. Element types are identified by a corresponding icon.

  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  1. Open a graphic.
  1. In the Elements tree, select an element.
  • The element is also selected in the graphic.

Filtering Graphic Elements

  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  • A graphic is displayed.
  1. In the Elements tree, click and select Filter.
  1. You have the following options:
  • Elements: The selected elements are filtered and become invisible.
  • Layers: For the selected layers, all assigned elements are filtered and become invisible.
  1. Click OK.
  • The selected settings remain after closing the dialog box.
  1. To reset the filter, you have the following options:
  • Click again and deselect the elements and layers.
  • Close the graphic and open it again.

Closing Editors

  • A graphic is displayed in the Graphics Editor.
  1. Make sure that you have saved the graphic.
  1. You have the following options to close an editor:
  • Right-click the graphic tab and click Close.
  • Press Ctrl + Alt + X.
  • Select the close button in the graphic tab.
