You can define your own standard users and their settings for either a single workstation or a group of workstations. Once the settings are defined, they will be applied when you log off from the running client and switch to the standard user defined by you. For every workstation, you can define a period of inactivity after that the user is logged off automatically and the standard user is logged in.

Defining Standard Users

A standard user that you define for either a single workstation or a group of workstations can be used to log in to the running client.

  • The User and Authorization Management perspective is displayed.
  1. In the Permissionable Objects tree, right-click a workstation or a group of workstations and select Define Standard User. Keep in mind that the setting is saved on the related object as an annotation which means that the subordinate workstations automatically inherit the standard user settings defined for the entire group of workstations.
  1. You have the following options:
  • User: Select a user to define as the standard user and click Finish.
  • User Group: If the user you want to define as the standard user is assigned to multiple user groups, select one of the user's user groups and click Finish. Otherwise, keep the default settings.
  • Comment: Enter a comment if necessary.
  1. Click Finish.
  • The standard user and user group are defined.
  • An annotation is displayed for the configured standard user and standard user group in the Standard Users view. For more information on this view refer to: Standard Users View.

Editing Standard Users

  • The User and Authorization Management perspective is displayed.
  • The standard user and standard user group have been defined.
  1. In the Permissionable Objects tree, select the workstation or a group of workstations whose standard user or standard user group you want to edit.
  1. In the Standard Users view, double-click an annotation and enter your changes.
  1. Click Finish.

Deleting Standard Users

  • The User and Authorization Management perspective is displayed.
  1. In the Standard Users view, select an annotation and click Delete Object from Database.
  1. Click Yes.

Configuring Automatic Switch to Standard User

If a logged in user is inactive for some time, Siveillance Control can be configured to automatically switch to standard user. The activity of a user includes all activities on the computer, not only activities in Siveillance Control. To enable the automatic switch to standard user, you can set a time in minutes for the period of inactivity for both engineering and runtime workstations.

  • The Administration perspective is displayed.
  1. In the Administration tree, select a workstation.
  • For engineering workstations select System Engineering > Workstations > [workstation name].
  • For runtime workstations select System > Workstations > [workstation name]
  1. In the Object Properties view, choose Misc > Switch to Standard User after Inactivity (Minutes).
  • The default value is 0. That means that the user is never logged off.
  1. Enter a number of minutes greater than 0.
  1. On the runtime clients, activate the configuration change. For more information refer to: Activating Data.
  • If there is no activity on the computer in the specified minutes, the user is automatically logged off and the standard user of the workstation is logged in.
