With the Find and replace detector symbols function, data point objects can be created from symbols in an imported graphic. In general detector symbols are searched. The following steps are necessary:

  • First, select a symbol of a detector in a floor plan.
  • To find all detectors in the map, choose the symbol attribute that contains the detector ID.
  • Choose the object type. For each found symbol, an object of the chosen type will be created.
  • Optionally you can map further symbol attributes to the properties of the found detector objects.
  • The Graphics Editor perspective is displayed.
  • A floor plan graphic is displayed in the Graphics view.
  1. In the graphic, select a detector.
  1. In the graphic, right-click the selected symbol and select Find and replace detector symbols.
  • Potential ID texts are available in the Found ID text drop-down list.
  • For each potential ID, the mode how it was found is also shown:
  • Text as a child element: The ID is a child-attribute of the symbol, imported from a Tag or an Attribute of the corresponding AutoCAD symbol.
  • Text in region of the symbol: The ID was found in the intermediate surrounding region of the symbol in the graphic.
  • Symbol name: The symbol name was taken as ID text.
  1. In the Information section, select the ID text from the Found ID text drop-down list.
  1. In the Search section, you have the following options:
  • To search for symbols with a specific name pattern, enter the information in the By symbol name field. You can use the following placeholders: Name* for symbols with the same prefix, Name*Rest for symbols with the same prefix and suffix and *Rest for symbols with the same suffix. You can also search for wildcard *. This will find all symbols that have any name.
  • To search for symbols with similar geometry, enter the information in the By geometry (Tolerance in %) field. This will match symbols of the same type, similar size and internal element structure.
  1. In the Find ID text via section, you have the following options: NOTICE! It is recommended to choose the same option like in the Found via field for the chosen ID text.
  • Text as a child element: Mark the check box to individually select text child elements, if multiple text child elements are found.
  • Text in region of the symbol: If no texts are found under the previous option, mark the check box to search for the text that is closest to the symbol.
  • Symbol name: If no texts were found under the previous options, mark the check box to suggest the detector ID as symbol name.
  1. In the Search section, click Start.
  1. Click Next.
  • The results appear in the Symbol search result dialog box.
  • As default, the result is filtered for symbols with unique ID texts.
  1. You can change the filter.
  1. If you want to include also non-unique ID texts, mark the Allow equal ID texts check box.
  1. You have the following import options:
  • Existing objects: To reimport and refresh an existing object, select Update. To skip reimporting an existing object, select Skip.
  • Removed symbols: To keep an object that is associated with a graphic symbol that was removed from the graphic prior to be second import, select Keep. To remove this object, select Delete.
  • Object type: To create the new object as a specific object type, select an object type.
  • Discipline: To use a specific discipline for the new objects, select a discipline.
  • Delete Symbols: To delete the placeholder symbols after the object is created, mark the check box.
  1. To map further symbol attributes to object properties click Next, otherwise click Finish and skip the next step.
  1. For further symbol attribute mapping you have the following options:
  • In the Symbol Attributes list select an attribute, and drag and drop it on an object property on the right side. NOTICE! You can click on the object property categories to display all object properties.
  • The selected attribute is displayed in the Mapped Attribute column. NOTICE! You can map one symbol attribute only to one object property.
  • To undo the mapping of a single attribute, click on the X symbol on the right.
  • To remove all mappings, click Remove all.
  • Click Finish.
  1. To display the changes, open the graphic in the Engineering perspective.
