One of the main tasks of Siveillance Control is to respond to messages from various disciplines and to support the operators in performing their tasks. For this, every time a message is received, Siveillance Control checks whether a Message Handling annotation is configured. Annotations can be configured for detectors, group detectors or areas.

Creating Message Handling Annotations

The Message Handling annotation defines how incoming messages are dealt with.

  • The OPS/Workflow Configuration perspective is displayed.
  1. In the Location Tree, right-click an object and select Create Annotation > Create Message Handling.
  1. In the Message tab, you have the following options:
  • For Any Object of Type: Select the detector type for which this rule is to apply.
  • For Objects of Subtype: Click and select a subtype from the Select Subtype dialog and click Finish.
  • Changed Attribute: Each detector type controls attributes like alarm or sabotage. Select the attribute for which the message handling is to apply. If the message handling is to apply to all attributes, do not select an attribute.
  • Old State: Select the status transitions depending on the modified attribute. A message handling applies, when the attribute defined at the top has its old status and changes to a different status. To respond in the same way to all status changes of an attribute, do not select a state.
  • New State: The message handling applies for the scenario where the status of the attribute changes to this new status.
  1. In the Message Handling tab, you have the following options:
  • Always create new message list entry.
  • Reuse newest active message for the same object when a quiet message arrives.
  • Suppress and add to operator log only.
  1. In the General Annotation Property tab you can enter a value between 0 and 1,000. The smaller the value, the earlier a message handling will be performed.
  1. If the message handling is used to create an event, you can define the default settings for the event in the Extended Settings tab.
  1. In the Acoustics tab, you have the following options:
  • Raise: The acoustic warning is activated for incoming messages.
  • Deactivate: The acoustic warning is suppressed.
  • As calculated internally: The acoustic warning is enabled and disabled in accordance with the default behavior depending on the message.
  1. Click Finish.
