Creating Location Tree Nodes
When you first start the Siveillance Control client, the Location Tree is empty except for some default areas. You can create new nodes.
- The Engineering perspective is displayed.
- At least one graphic has been imported or created.
- The graphic has been calibrated.
- Open the Graphics Tree.
- Double-click a graphic.
- Open the Location Tree.
- Right-click and select Areas > Create Room Viewport + Sequences.
- Click Finish.
Defining Area Types
You can add a hierarchy to the Location Tree nodes by defining area types that are displayed by a symbol. The detector location is defined by its path in the Location Tree. The contents of the fields for defining the location are determined in the Rate Message window by the area types.
The allocation of area types to location fields in the Rate Message window is defined by the system. The area type can be assigned regardless of the level of the area in the Location Tree.
- When assigning area types, make sure that the location structure is mapped logically. You can use the level details in the above table as a basis.
- If no area corresponding to a particular type is found in the Location Tree, then the field in the Rate Message window remains blank.
- The Location Tree is displayed.
- Disciplines have been imported and adapted.
- The graphic has been imported and calibrated.
- Detectors have been extracted and merged.
- To set the area type for individual areas, complete the following steps:
- Select an area.
- In the Object Properties view, click Misc > Area Type.
- Select an area from the area type drop-down list. Keep in mind to apply the areas in a logical order, since the area type can be set independently from the hierarchical position of the object in the Location Tree.
Symbol | Name | Layer in Location Tree | Field name in Rate Message window |
---|---|---|---|
Site | 1 |
| |
Building | 2 | Object | |
Floor | 3 | Floor | |
Wing | 4 | Wing | |
Room | 4 | Room | |
Zone | 5 |
| |
Stairwell | 4, 5 |

- Click Finish.
- To set the area type for multiple areas simultaneously, complete the following steps:
- Select multiple areas.
- Right-click the areas and select Area > Set Area Type.
- Select the area.
- Click Finish.
Allocating the Area Type for Multiple Areas Simultaneously
- The Location Tree is displayed.
- Right-click an area to which you want to assign the same area type and select Area > Set Area Type.
- Select the area.
- Click Finish.
- From now on, the area type appears in the Rate Message window for alarm messages generated in this area.
Calculating the Location Tree Structure Based on the Parent Hierarchy
The calculation of the location structure using area types is preset in Siveillance Control. In the case of inventory data that has not yet been assigned to types, the calculation of the location structure based on the parent hierarchy can be used where the hierarchy levels are determined automatically.
- In the menu bar, select Window > Preferences.
- Select Siveillance Control > Locations.
- Select Calculate location structure by parent hierarchy.
- The location information is determined based on the hierarchical level:
- Room: First hierarchical level above detector.
- Wing: Second hierarchical level above detector.
- Floor: Third hierarchical level above detector.
- Building: Fourth hierarchical level above detector.
- Once the area types are configured consistently, select Siveillance Control > Locations again.
- Select Calculate location structure by area types.
- Click OK.
Validating the Objects Presence
The presence of the objects that are incrementally added during the engineering process and not yet placed in the Location Tree can be validated. The validation is carried out for the following object types: Door, Access, Fire, Manual Fire, Intrusion and TBS Detectors.
- In the menu bar, select Window > Preferences.
- Select Siveillance Control > Locations.
- Select Validate Presence in Location Tree.
- Click OK.
- The open task is entered in the Tasks view.
Setting Validation for VMS Cameras Presence
- In the menu bar, select Window > Preferences.
- Select Siveillance Control > Locations.
- You have the following options:
- If you want to validate the presence of VMS cameras in the Location Tree, mark the Validate Presence of VMS Cameras in Location Tree checkbox.
- If you do not want to validate the presence of VMS cameras in the Location Tree, uncheck the Validate Presence of VMS Cameras in Location Tree checkbox.
- Click OK.
Grouping Areas
Areas can be automatically grouped based on attribute values using regular expressions.
- The Location Tree is displayed.
- Areas have been created.
- Select areas you want to group.
- Right-click the areas and select Areas > Group Areas by Attribute Values.
- To automatically extract information from the selected areas, adapt the settings under Source (Areas):
- Correlation Base: This parameter defines which attribute in the selected areas is to be used for grouping.
- Correlation Pattern: This value is a regular expression that is applied to the value of the selected attribute.
- Strict Pattern: If this parameter is selected, the pattern has to describe the entire value of the selected attribute. If the parameter is not selected, the pattern can only describe parts of the attribute value and can therefore apply multiple times.
Example for strict pattern
The target (area) is defined asRoom ${1}
, whereby${1}
is a placeholder for the respective area number (the value of the first group in the regular expression).
Example for non-exact pattern
The mapping pattern ([1-9][0-9]*)
is specified as the source (area). All areas that contain at least one number are thus selected. The target (area) is defined as Room ${1}
, whereby ${1}
is a placeholder for the first occurrence of the first group in the regular expression. ${2}
would select the second occurrence and so on.
- To define how the areas or rooms in which the selected areas are to be arranged are identified, adapt the settings under Target (Areas):
- Target Attribute: This parameter defines which attribute in the target areas or rooms are to be used.
- Target Value Pattern: This value is a regular expression that is applied to the value of the target area or room.
- Create Missing Areas: If this parameter is selected and the calculated target area does not yet exist, this area is created automatically.
- To see a preview of the result of the operation, click Preview.
- Click Finish.
Nesting Objects Into Areas by GIS Position
You can automatically create tree nodes in the Location Tree.
- The Engineering perspective is displayed.
- The Location Tree is displayed.
- The areas to which you want to arrange the object have valid GIS locations or outlines. For more information refer to: Adding and Editing Outlines.
- The Fix GIS Position attribute has been set.
- Right-click an area and select Areas > Nest Objects Into Areas by GIS Position.
- You can define the following settings:
- Object Type: This value defines the object type in the tree to which the operation is to be applied.
- Recursion Depth: This value indicates for how many tree layers the operation is to be performed. If the value is <0, the operation is performed through to the leaf nodes.
- Tolerance: This value defines with which tolerance (in meters) the objects are sought.
- Click Finish.
Managing Virtual Group Detectors
Virtual group detectors summarize multiple detectors of one discipline and prevent overlapping of symbols of individual detectors at a certain zoom step. The option enables the classification of objects by discipline. Also, you can display the discipline-specific counters in the Location Tree.
Creating Virtual Group Detectors
- The Engineering perspective is displayed.
- The graphic has been calibrated.
- The area outlines have been defined.
- The detectors have been assigned to a discipline.
- The configuration has been finished.
Make sure that the configuration is largely finished. Otherwise, the group detectors have to be recalculated if changes are made to the Location Tree.
- In the Location Tree, right-click an area and select (Virtual) Group Detectors > Create (Virtual) Group Detectors.
- Enter the parameters. You have the following options:
- Calculate Symbol Groups: To sort detectors within a room or area according to the discipline, keep the default settings. To not sort the detectors, unmark the check box.
- Recursion Depth: Define for how many layers the group detector is to be created. Keep the default setting -1 to select all sub-nodes of the currently selected node.
- Nest Symbols in Room: To insert symbols for the group detectors in the graphic, keep the default settings. Otherwise, unmark the check box.
- Update Positions: To update the position of existing groups, keep the default settings. To only calculate the position of new group detectors, unmark the check box.
- Position: Select a position from the drop-down list.
- Calculate Zoom Threshold: To calculate the zoom levels for the detectors and group detectors automatically, keep the default settings. Otherwise, unmark the check box.
- Switchover Point: Enter a zoom level, for which the switch from individual to group detector is to take place. The smaller the value, the more likely a switch will occur.
- Exception If Area Without Outline Found: To calculate the group detectors in the case of areas with an outline, keep the default settings. To ignore areas without outlines, unmark the check box.
- Click Finish.
Manually Adapting Visibilities
