As a network-based system, Siveillance Control only supports network printers. These network printers have to be managed by CUPS. You can only add printers, if the associated CUPS printer server is saved in Siveillance Control.

Configuring CUPS Printer Servers

  • The IP address, under which the CUPS printer server has been installed, is known.
  • The Print Configuration perspective is displayed.
  1. In the Workstations & Printers tree, you have the following options:
  • To configure a CUPS printer server for runtime mode, click System > Printers.
  • To configure a CUPS printer server for the engineering mode, click System Engineering > Printers.
  • To configure a CUPS printer server for both modes, save the CUPS printer server for both.
  1. Right-click and select Create CUPS Printer Server.
  1. Enter the CUPS Server Address and CUPS Server Port.
  1. Enter a name.
  1. Enter a comment.
  1. Click Finish.

Synchronizing Printers

Printers from the CUPS server can be synchronized automatically with Siveillance Control. Preferentially, complete the synchronization after the first time the printer is configured. If printers are replaced, they also have to be synchronized. Keep in mind that when you synchronize printers, all printers that may exist under Siveillance Control, but not on the CUPS server, are deleted.

  • The Print Configuration perspective is displayed.
  • The printer drivers have been installed on the computer with the CUPS server.
  • The printers to be used have been incorporated in CUPS.
  • The CUPS server has been started.
  1. For runtime mode, select a CUPS printer server under System > Printers in the Workstations & Printers tree.
  1. for engineering mode, select a CUPS printer server under System Engineering > Printers in the Workstations & Printers tree.
  1. Right-click and select Synchronize with CUPS Printer Server.
  • After several seconds, a notice window with the results of the synchronization appears.
  1. Click OK.

Editing CUPS Printer Servers

  • The Print Configuration perspective is displayed.
  • A CUPS printer server has been selected.
  1. In the Object Properties view, click the value you want to change.
  1. Enter your change.
  1. Press Enter.

Deleting CUPS Printer Servers

  • The Print Configuration perspective is displayed.
  1. In the Workstation & Printers tree, select one or more CUPS printer servers.
  1. Right-click and select Delete Object(s).
  1. Click Yes.
