Passwords in Siveillance Control must be at least 12 characters long by default and contain uppercase and lowercase letters, digits and special characters. As an administrator, you can change the default settings.

Removing Character Types from the Password Policy

If a character type such as uppercase or lowercase letters is removed from the password policy, this character does no longer have to be contained in a password. Keep in mind that the password then is less secure.

  1. In the menu bar, select Window > Preferences.
  1. Select Siveillance Control > Security > Password Policy.
  1. Select either the Capital Letters, Digits, Small Letters or Special Characters check box.
  1. You have the following options:
  • To include the character type in the password policy, mark the corresponding check box.
  • To exclude the character type from the password policy, unmark the corresponding check box.
  1. Click OK.

Configuring the Password Length

You can impact the strength of a password by changing its length. The shortest password length is six characters, the longest 20 characters. Keep in mind that shorter passwords are less secure.

  1. In the menu bar, select Window > Preferences.
  1. Select Siveillance Control > Security > Password Policy.
  1. Choose the length of the password from the Minimum Password Length drop-down field.
  1. Click OK.
