In order to install OIS, you first have to install Debian 11. For installation of OIS you need the ISO image OIS-sc-3.0.xx.xxxx-debian11-small.iso that is supplied or can be downloaded by using the SIOS portal (Siemens Industry Online Support).

For a small OIS installation without a high load you can install OIS on the Siveillance Control runtime server.

Installing/Updating OIS

If you want to install OIS, use the script installSiveillanceControl.sh or installOIS.sh. In the following the installation with installOIS.sh script is described. The scripts are available only after the debian11-suite-amd64-x.iso is installed.

NOTICE

Before updating OIS to a new version, refer to the related Readme.md file, to get informed about the latest changes and further actions that may be required after the update.

  • Debian has been installed.
  • You are logged in as root user.
  1. To install or update OIS on a server machine, copy the following file with the copy command to the /home/[user] directory, using for example WinSCP:
  • OIS-sc-3.0.xx.xxxx-debian11-small.iso

To install an older OIS version, you need first uninstall the new one. For more information refer to: Uninstalling OIS.

  1. To install or update OIS on VM, copy the files to the /home/[user] directory using for example WinSCP.
  1. Enter the following command to change to the directory with the OIS installation file:
    cd /home/[user]
  1. Run the installation script:
    installOIS.sh

  1. Complete the following steps to install OIS:
  • Enter 2 to select install/update OIS server.
  • Choose the package version.
  • Choose the ports for the OIS web server. For installing standalone OIS, enter 1. For installing OIS on the Siveillance Control runtime server or for installing other products like Operation Scheduler, enter 2.
  • Two ports are shown at the end of the installation, depending on what you selected.
  1. Use these ports when setting up OIS Tools in the browser. For more information refer to: Setting Up OIS Tools in Browser.

Uninstalling OIS

  • You are logged in as root user.
  1. Enter the following command to change to the directory with the Siveillance Control installation files:
    cd /home/[user]
  1. Run the installation script:
    installSiveillanceControl.sh
  • Enter k to select uninstall OIS server.
  • Enter y.

Setting Up OIS Tools in Browser

  • A current Debian version has been installed and is running on the server.
  • OIS is installed on the server.
  1. Start the browser on a different computer, for instance a Windows client.
  1. If OIS is installed on a separate OIS server, enter the hostname in the address bar, for example http://[hostname].
  1. If OIS is installed on the runtime server, enter the hostname and the port 8098 in the address bar, for example http:[hostname]:8098/#/home.
  1. Click Generate.
  1. Click here to install the certificate.
  1. Mark the Trust this CA to identify websites check box.
  1. Click OK.
  1. If OIS is installed on a separate server, perform the following steps:
  • Click Go to secure site.
  • Enter the ois username in the User Common Name (CN) field.
  1. If OIS is installed on the runtime server, perform the following steps:
  • Enter the hostname and the port 8448 in the address bar, for example https:[hostname]:8448/#/home.
  • Enter the root username in the User Common Name (CN) field.
  1. Enter a password in the Password field.
  1. Click Download Client CA.
  1. Select the Save File option.
  1. Click OK.
  • The client.p12 certificate is saved.
  1. In the browser toolbar, click the Menu icon.
  1. Select Preferences > Privacy & Security.
  1. Scroll down and open Certificates > View Certificates.
  1. Import the certificate by completing the following steps:
  • Select the Your Certificates tab and click Import.
  • Select the saved client.p12 certificate and click Open.
  • Use the password you defined for the user when creating the certificate.
  • Enter the password and click OK twice.
  1. To load the certificates, close the browser and restart it.

Starting OIS Tools

  • OIS Tools has been set up.
  1. Start the browser on a different computer, for instance a Windows client.
  1. Enter the IP address of the target computer in the address bar:
    https://[hostname]/#/home
  1. Click OK.
  1. Click Start.
