If at least one subsystem is connected through remote access, you have to create a gateway with the corresponding units on the remote site. You can prepare both the Cu-Handler and Vu-Handler unit for remote use. Typically, you only use the Cu-Handler remote.
Configuring the Cu-Handler for Remote Access
In order to enable remote access, you first have to configure the gateway and respective Cu-Handler unit accordingly.
- In the navigation pane, select the site and afterwards the gateway that you have created.
- Enter the IP address of the local computer in the Master field.
- Click P to check the connection.
- Enter the root password and click Connect.
- Click Submit.
- Select the subsystem Cu-Handler.
- Enter the IP address of the target computer in the Remote field.
- Click P to check the connection.
- Enter the root password and click Connect.
- A message confirming the successful connection appears.
- In the Required or non-default attributes tab, edit the following attribute:
- proxyhostname: Enter the IP address of the target computer with the specification of the port 1024 in the format [IP address]/1024.
Keep in mind that, while configuring Cu-Handler for remote access of the SIGMASYS interface, the IP address of the OIS user’s target computer must be entered in the Remote field in the following format: ois@[Target Computer IP address]. And for proxyhostname, the IP address of the OIS user’s target computer must be entered with the specification of the port 1024 in the following format: ois@[Target Computer IP address]/1024.
- Depending on the subsystem, configure the Cu-Handler unit as done during a typical configuration. For more information refer to: Configuring Units and Devices.
- Click Submit.
- Upload the gateway. For more information refer to: Uploading the Gateway Configuration.
Configuring the Vu-Handler Unit for Remote Access
In special cases it can also be necessary to configure the respective engineering/viewpoint and runtime Vu-Handler units.
The number of available Vu-Handlers depends on the selected template. You can only connect as many Vu-Handlers as are available by default.
- In the navigation pane, select the site and afterwards the gateway that you have created.
- Select the engineering or viewpoint Vu-Handler unit.
- Enter the IP address of the local computer in the Remote field.
- Click P to check the connection.
- In the Required or non-default attributes tab, edit the following attribute:
- proxyhostname: Enter the IP address of the target computer with the specification of the port 1025:1026 in the format [IP address]/1025:1026.
- Click Submit.
- If a runtime unit is available, select the runtime Vu-Handler unit.
- Enter the IP address of the local computer in the Remote field.
- Click P to check the connection.
- In the Required or non-default attributes tab, edit the following attribute:
- proxyhostname: Enter the IP address of the target computer with the specification of the port 1027:1028 in the format [IP address]/1027:1028.
- Click Submit.
