If you want to verify the events and orders triggered from a subsystem in OIS Tools, acknowledge an event and download a Vu-Hander XML file before connecting to a management station, use the Explorer tab.

Opening the Explorer Tab

  • OIS Tools has been started.
  • A site and a gateway have been created.
  • A unit has been created.
  1. Select the Configure tab.
  1. In the navigation pane, select the site and afterwards the gateway.
  1. Select the engineering unit.
  1. Click VU Start.
  • The Explorer tab opens.
  • A Connected status is displayed when the connection is established between OIS component and the subsystem.
  • The data point relevant to the OIS component displays all the events in the Explorer tab.
  • The Start, Stop, Clear, Orders, Previous Orders, Configure and Filter buttons are displayed.
  1. Expand to display the relevant event attributes.

Starting the Connection

  • A site and a gateway have been created.
  • A unit has been created.
  • The Explorer tab is displayed.
  • Click Start.
  • The connection is established between the OIS component and subsystem.
  • The events triggered from a subsystem are displayed in the Explorer tab.

Stopping the Connection

  • The Explorer tab is displayed.
  • The OIS component and subsystem are connected.
  • Click Stop.
  • The OIS component and the subsystem are no longer connected.

Performing Orders

  • The Explorer tab is displayed.
  • The OIS component and subsystem are connected.
  1. Click Orders.
  • The default name is displayed in the Component text field.
  1. Select the values from the Point type, Point name and Order drop-down lists.
  1. Click Perform.
  • A record relevant to the performed order is displayed in the Explorer tab.
  • Any event associated with the order is also displayed in the Explorer tab.
  1. There is another option to perform an order. Under the Operation column select a row with Event
  1. Click Orders.
  • The Component, Point type and Point name text fields are predefined with the values for that data point.
  1. To delete values defined for the Point type, Point name and Order attributes, click Clear.
  1. To close the window, click Cancel.

Performing Orders for Previously Used Data Points

  • The Explorer tab is displayed.
  • The OIS component and subsystem are connected.
  • An order has been performed.
  1. Click Previous Order.
  • The Component, Point type and Point name text fields are predefined with the values for the data point for which an order has been previously performed successfully.
  1. Select an Order from the drop-down list and click Perform.
  • The orders are displayed in the Explorer tab.

Acknowledging Events

  • The Explorer tab is displayed.
  • The OIS component and subsystem are connected.
  • An order has been performed.
  • To acknowledge events, click the link displayed in the ACK column.
  • An acknowledged status is displayed for that event.

Downloading the Vu-Handler Data points XML File

  • The Explorer tab is displayed.
  • The OIS component and subsystem are connected.
  • To download the xml file for the data point, click the DNL link.
  • The file is downloaded and saved in the following format: is_dp-<unit_name>-vusis.xml.

Configuring Settings

  • The Explorer tab is displayed.
  • The OIS component and subsystem are connected.
  • Click the Configure icon.
  • You are redirected to the Settings tab. For more information refer to: Settings Tab.

Filtering Parameters

  • The Explorer tab is displayed.
  • The OIS component and subsystem are connected.
  1. Click the Filter icon.
  • Under each column title a text box is displayed.
  1. Type the text under any of the columns to filter the records. The filter functionality is case-sensitive.
