The right menu displays a builder specific menu that contains many powerful Graphic Builder tools.

Graphics Builder Edit Menu

① Program/Events

You can create program and events that will run on specified tags to perform commands on the graphic.

Programs / Events

New Program/Event

  1. To add a program or event, select New Program/Event.
  • The Create New Prog/Event dialog box displays.
  1. Select a program or event from the drop-down menu.
  1. A dialog box displays, depending on what you selected in the drop-down.
  • If you select Program, the Create Program dialog box displays.
  • If you select Event, the Create Event dialog box displays.

Remove Program/Event

  1. To delete a program or event, select Remove Program/Event.
  • The Remove Prog/Event dialog box displays.
  1. Select a program/event to delete and then click Apply.

Clicking on any program/event displays two options in slider menu:

  • Select
    Selects all programs/events in the Builder.
  • Run On
    The Edit runOn for Component Status dialog box displays.
    Select the filter in the dialog box and then click Apply.
  • Edit
    The Program Editor dialog box displays.
    You can edit the code and required fields as desired, and then click Save.
  • Rename
    The Rename undefined dialog box displays.
    Rename the Program / Event and then click Apply.

② Components

Click Components to display a new view that categorizes each of the components into sub-sections.

Components

Clicking on any sub category displays two options in slider menu:

  • Select
    Automatically selects each component in the Builder.
  • View
    Displays a list of all available components in that category and allows you to select or remove them.

③ Virtual Points

Displays a view that displays a list of available points in that graphic and also allows you to update, format, and create a new virtual point.

If you select Virtual Points, there are three selections:

  • New VirtualPoint
  • Update Bindings
  • CurVal Format

④ Virtual Point Refs

Allows you to review what bindings exist within the graphic, and the number in the Virtual Point Ref tab indicates how many virtualPointRef bindings currently in the graphic.

Click Virtual Point Refs to display all points that are currently virtualPointRefs and how many objects they are being referenced by.

Clicking on any point displays three options in the slider menu:

  • Select

Selects every component or object that has a virtualPointRef on the specific point.

  • Tags

You can add a tag to every object that has a virtualPointRef on the selected point.

  1. In the slider menu, click Tags.
  • The Run On dialog box displays.
  1. Fill out the required fields and then click Apply.
  • Rename

Allows you to rename the point within the graphic.

  1. In the slider menu, click Rename.
  • The Rename Filter dialog box displays.
  1. Rename the VirtualPointRef and then click Apply.

⑤ File Assets

Displays a list of all objects found in the graphic.

Magic Buttons

Magic Buttons are helpful tools used within Graphics Builder to do common graphical edits.

Align-Distribute
Align-Distribute displays a number of options to help Align-Distribute objects within the Graphic Builder workspace.

  • Horizontal Align
    There are three align options:
    • Left
    • Right
    • Middle
  • Vertical Align
    There are three align options:
    • Top
    • Bottom
    • Center
  • Horizontal Distribution
    Allows you to evenly distribute the objects based on:
    • Left edge
    • Right edge
    • Middle
  • Vertical Distribution
    Allows you to evenly distribute the objects based on:
    • Top edge
    • Bottom edge
    • Center

Apply Batch Tags

Apply Batch Tags is a feature in several applications of Desigo Optic and is used to apply tags to object(s) within the graphic.

When applying tags to objects each type of tag has a certain format that needs to be followed.

You can apply batch tags to the following:

  • Custom Filter

Allows you to manually enter the Filter and tag(s) to add.
If you already have objects selected within the graphic and you select Custom Filter, it automatically populates the Filter with the object IDs.

    • Filter: Filter//determine what objects are affected within the graphic
    • Apply Tags: Enter the tags to apply to the objects that match the above filter.
    • Manually Select Filter Items: When enabled, displays a list of objects that match your filter and allow you to manually select which ones are affected.
      If disabled, applies the tags to all that match the filter.
  • Component
  • Program
  • Event
  • Virtual Point
  • Style
  • href
  • fileRef
  • Remote Assets

Add Hyperlinks

The Add Hyperlinks tool is used to create hyperlink buttons/icons.

When you click Add Hyperlinks, the Add Hyperlinks dialog box displays.

Upload Thumbnail

The Upload Thumbnail option allows you to upload a thumbnail image to represent that particular Graphic file.

  1. Once selected, the Upload Graphics Thumbnail dialog box displays.

  1. You can do the following in the Upload Graphics Thumbnail dialog box:
  • New Image
    Manually upload a file from your local drive.
  • Existing Image
    Select an existing image from the drop-down menu.
  • Use Existing Image checkbox
    Select this to enable the Existing Image drop-down.

Add Points

Allows you to add new points to the graphic if needed.

  1. When selected, the Add Points to Graphic Choose Type dialog box displays.
  1. You can select one of the following:
  • Relative: By Tags: If selected, the Add Points to Graphic dialog box displays, allowing you to choose a sample equip and points.
    You can add points by the tags, and the binding of the point consists of tags.
  • Relative: By navName: If selected, the Add Points to Graphic dialog box displays, allowing you to choose a sample equip and points.
    You can add points by the navName, and the binding of the point consists of the navName.
  • Absolute: By Point Ids: If selected, the Add Points to Graphic dialog box displays, where you can add absolute point variables.
    You can add points by the IDs (hardcoded), and the binding of the point consists of the point ID.

⑦ Advanced

Mass Edit

Allows you to do mass edits across multiple components within the Builder.

  • Copy

Copies the selected objects properties and stores it in the clipboard to paste.

  • Paste
    Displays what has been copied, and displays a list of the common properties shared by the objects currently selected in the workspace, where you can paste the copied properties onto them.
  1. In the slider menu, click Paste.
  • The Paste Properties dialog box displays.
  1. Fill out the required fields as desired and then click Apply.
  • A confirmation dialog box displays.
  1. Click Apply.
  • Edit
    Displays the selected object common properties and allows you to edit them manually.
  1. In the slider menu, click Edit.
  • The Edit Properties dialog box displays.
  1. Fill out the required fields as desired and then click Apply.
  • A confirmation dialog displays.
  1. Click Apply.

Copy Records

Allows you to copy and paste records between graphics, download and upload records from your graphic to transfer across projects or to have as a template or backup.

  • Copy
    Allows you to copy records from within the graphic.
  1. In the slider menu, click Copy.
  • The Copy Records dialog box displays.
  1. In the Kind of Records drop-down, select the desired record(s) and then click Apply.
  1. In the next Copy Records dialog box, select the items to copy and then click Apply.
  • A confirmation dialog box displays.
  1. Click Apply.
  • Paste
    Allows you to take the copied records and paste them into any other graphic page.
  • Download
    Allows you to back up record(s), save them as templates, or transfer them between projects.
  1. In the slider menu, click Download.
  • The Download Records dialog box displays.
  1. In the Kind of Records drop-down, select Program and then click Apply.
  • The Download Selected Records dialog box displays.
  1. Select the program(s) to download and click Apply.
  • The Copy Records dialog box displays with the number of program(s) selected.
  1. Click Apply.
  • The file is downloaded to your local drive.
  • Upload
    Allows you to upload a downloaded zip containing graphics records.
  1. In the slider menu, click Upload.
  1. Browse your local drive to find the saved (.JSON file) and click Open.
  • The program displays in the Programs pane.

Animation Editor

The Animation Editor feature allows you create your own animation components using your own image frames. This works for any type of points. Once created, they can be like any of the built-in components. You can bind a point and it should animate automatically or create a program to control them.
