This section explains how to create a SALTO Nebula lock, and how to create and assign a gateway to the SALTO Nebula online lock. While creating a SALTO Nebula lock, you have the option to create and assign a gateway to the SALTO Nebula online lock.

The following device types are supported:

  • Gateway: A gateway is a device that connects multiple locks to the internet. A gateway is required to connect the SALTO Nebula lock and the SALTO Nebula cloud. The gateway can connect maximum 112 locks.
  • Online: Locks that are permanently connected to the internet through a gateway. An online lock can be assigned to only one gateway.
  • Offline: Locks that do not have a permanent internet connection.

Creating SALTO Nebula lock and gateway

Follow the below steps to create Salto Nebula offline locks or Salto Nebula online locks or gateways:

  1. In vertical navigation, open Configuration > Locks.
  1. Click Create.
  • By default, the Salto type is selected in the Vendor dropdown list.
  • By default, the SALTO Nebula is selected in the System type dropdown list.
  1. To create an offline lock, follow the steps below:
  • Select Offline from Device type dropdown list.
  • In Lock ID, enter the lock ID that is unique for a tenant. NOTICE! The lock ID must be alphanumeric with uppercase letters from A to F and the length of 14 characters. For example, 1234567890ABCD. The lock ID is printed on the lock.
  1. To create an online lock and assign the lock to a gateway, follow the steps below:
  • Select Online from Device type dropdown list.
  • In Lock ID, enter the lock ID that is unique for a tenant. NOTICE! The lock ID must be alphanumeric with uppercase letters from A to F and the length of 14 characters. For example, 1234567890ABCD. The lock ID is printed on the lock.
  • To assign the lock to the gateway, select the gateway from the Gateway dropdown list.
  1. To create a gateway for online locks, follow the steps below:
  • Select Gateway from Device type dropdown list.
  • Enter the gateway name in Gateway.
  1. Click Save.
  • The created device displays in the Locks list.
  • If the lock is assigned to a door, the lock status displays as Assigned to door. For more information refer to: Creating doors.
  • If locks are assigned to the gateway, the gateway status displays as Locks assigned.
  • A red mark in the Locks list indicates that the device is not assigned.

Status

The SALTO Nebula lock status are defined as follows:

  • Enrolled or Commissioned: The lock is calibrated and installed on the door.
  • Uncommissioned: The lock is not calibrated and installed on the door.
  • Ready: The lock is not calibrated and not installed on a door.
