This section covers the workflow for enabling Hyper-V on your Windows Server 2019 and 2022 computer.
- An internet connection is available.
- The download speed of at least 10 Mbps is available.
- Operating system Windows Server 2019 or 2022 is installed on your computer.
- Hardware virtualization support is turned on in the BIOS settings.
- You have purchased and activated a Building X Connect Software subscription.
- You are an administrator or have local admin rights to complete the installation.
- Go to Windows Start Menu.
- Select Server Manager.
- In Dashboard, select Add roles and features.
- In Before You Begin, select Next.
- In Installation Type, select Role-based or feature-based installation.
- Select Next.
- In Server Selection, select Select a server from the server pool and select your local server.
- Select Next.
- In Server Roles, select Hyper-V.
- In Add Roles and Features Wizard pop-up pane, select Include management tools checkbox.
- Select Add Features.
- Select Next.
- In Virtual Switches, do not select any adapters, select Next.
If you select an adapter in Virtual Switches, it will generally lead to a network failure and inaccessible system in case of a remote lead.
- Select Next.
- In Migration, select Next.
- In Default Stores, update the paths.
- Select Next.
- In Confirmation, select Restart the destination server automatically if required checkbox.
- Select Install.
- Hyper-V is installed on your Windows Server computer.
