- Go to Connect Software.
- Download Connect Software image and save it to your local drive.
Creating new Virtual Machine in Hyper-V Manager
- The pre-installation steps were executed successfully.
- Connect Software image is stored on local drive.
- Run Hyper-V Manager.
- Go to Actions > New.
- Select Virtual Machine.
- New Virtual Machine Wizard opens.
- Go to Specify name and Location tab.
- Enter the Name of the new virtual machine.
- Select Next.
- Select Generation 2.
- Select Next.
- In Assign Memory tab, select amount of RAM(GB). For basic configuration we recommend at least 4 GBs memory size.
- Select Next.
- In Configure Networking tab, select Not Connected.
- Select Next.
- In Connect Virtual Hard Disk tab, select Use an existing virtual hard disk.
- Select Browse.
- Select existing downloaded Connect Software image file.
- Select Next.
- In Summary tab, select Finish.
- The new Virtual Machine is created.
Setting up the new Virtual Machine
- Select the new Virtual Machine and open the context menu.
- Select Settings.
- Go to Security tab.
- Deselect Enable Secure Boot to disable it.
- Go to Processor tab.
- Select Number of virtual processors value. For basic configuration we recommend at least 2 or more virtual processors.
- Go to SCSI Controller tab.
- Select Hard Drive.
- Select Add.
- Select Virtual hard disk.
- Select New.
- In Choose Disk Type tab, select Dynamically expanding.
- Select Next.
- In Specify Name and Location tab, enter the Name of the virtual hard disk file.
- Select Next.
- In Configure Disk tab, select Create a new blank virtual hard disk and select Hard disk size (GB).
Hard disk size is dynamically allocated and is dependent on consumption. For basic configuration we recommend at least 2 GBs hard disk size.
- Select Next.
- In Summary tab, select Finish.
- Select Apply to confirm.
- Select OK to confirm.
Single network mode configuration
- Building automation network and the internet use the same physical network connection.
- Go to Actions card.
- Select Virtual Switch Manager.
- Select New virtual network switch.
- Select External switch type.
- Select Create Virtual Switch.
- Enter the name of the new Virtual network switch.
- Select External network.
- Select the network adapter for your automation network and internet access from the External network drop-down list.
- Select Apply.
- Select OK.
- Select the new Virtual Machine and open the context menu.
- Select Settings.
- Select Network Adapter tab for your switch.
- Select the network adapter for your automation network and internet access from the Virtual switch properties > External network drop-down list.
- Select Apply to confirm.
- Select OK to confirm.
- The new Virtual Machine is set up successfully.
Separate network mode configuration
- Physical network interface 1 on your Windows machine is connected to the Building automation network.
- Physical network interface 2 on your Windows Machine is connected to the internet.
- Static IP addresses for the Physical network interfaces (where needed) are set before proceeding with the installation.
- Go to Actions card.
- Select Virtual Switch Manager.
- Select New virtual network switch.
- Select External switch type.
- Select Create Virtual Switch.
- Enter the name of the new Virtual network switch.
- Select External network.
- Select the network adapter for your automation network from the External network drop-down list.
- Select Apply.
- Select New virtual network switch.
- Select External switch type.
- Select Create Virtual Switch.
- Enter the name of the new Virtual network switch.
- Select External network.
- Select the network adapter for your internet access from the External network drop-down list.
- Select Apply.
- Select OK to confirm.
- Virtual network switches are created.
- Select the new Virtual Machine and open the context menu.
- Select Settings.
- Select Add Hardware menu.
- Select Network Adapter.
- Select Add.
- Second Network adapter is added.
- Select the first (top) Network Adapter in the list.
- Select the virtual switch for your automation network from the Virtual switch properties > External network drop-down list.
- Select the second (bottom) Network Adapter in the list.
- Select the virtual switch for your internet access from the Virtual switch properties > External network drop-down list.
- Select Apply.
- Select OK to confirm.
- The new Virtual Machine is set up successfully.
