1. Go to Connect Software.
  1. Download Connect Software image and save it to your local drive.

Creating new Virtual Machine in Hyper-V Manager

  • The pre-installation steps were executed successfully.
  • Connect Software image is stored on local drive.
  1. Run Hyper-V Manager.
  1. Go to Actions > New.
  1. Select Virtual Machine.
  • New Virtual Machine Wizard opens.
  1. Go to Specify name and Location tab.
  1. Enter the Name of the new virtual machine.
  1. Select Next.
  1. Select Generation 2.
  1. Select Next.
  1. In Assign Memory tab, select amount of RAM(GB). For basic configuration we recommend at least 4 GBs memory size.
  1. Select Next.
  1. In Configure Networking tab, select Not Connected.
  1. Select Next.
  1. In Connect Virtual Hard Disk tab, select Use an existing virtual hard disk.
  1. Select Browse.
  1. Select existing downloaded Connect Software image file.
  1. Select Next.
  1. In Summary tab, select Finish.
  • The new Virtual Machine is created.

Setting up the new Virtual Machine

  1. Select the new Virtual Machine and open the context menu.
  1. Select Settings.
  1. Go to Security tab.
  1. Deselect Enable Secure Boot to disable it.
  1. Go to Processor tab.
  1. Select Number of virtual processors value. For basic configuration we recommend at least 2 or more virtual processors.
  1. Go to SCSI Controller tab.
  1. Select Hard Drive.
  1. Select Add.
  1. Select Virtual hard disk.
  1. Select New.
  1. In Choose Disk Type tab, select Dynamically expanding.
  1. Select Next.
  1. In Specify Name and Location tab, enter the Name of the virtual hard disk file.
  1. Select Next.
  1. In Configure Disk tab, select Create a new blank virtual hard disk and select Hard disk size (GB).

Hard disk size is dynamically allocated and is dependent on consumption. For basic configuration we recommend at least 2 GBs hard disk size.

  1. Select Next.
  1. In Summary tab, select Finish.
  1. Select Apply to confirm.
  1. Select OK to confirm.

Single network mode configuration

  • Building automation network and the internet use the same physical network connection.
  1. Go to Actions card.
  1. Select Virtual Switch Manager.
  1. Select New virtual network switch.
  1. Select External switch type.
  1. Select Create Virtual Switch.
  1. Enter the name of the new Virtual network switch.
  1. Select External network.
  1. Select the network adapter for your automation network and internet access from the External network drop-down list.
  1. Select Apply.
  1. Select OK.
  1. Select the new Virtual Machine and open the context menu.
  1. Select Settings.
  1. Select Network Adapter tab for your switch.
  1. Select the network adapter for your automation network and internet access from the Virtual switch properties > External network drop-down list.
  1. Select Apply to confirm.
  1. Select OK to confirm.
  • The new Virtual Machine is set up successfully.

Separate network mode configuration

  • Physical network interface 1 on your Windows machine is connected to the Building automation network.
  • Physical network interface 2 on your Windows Machine is connected to the internet.
  • Static IP addresses for the Physical network interfaces (where needed) are set before proceeding with the installation.
  1. Go to Actions card.
  1. Select Virtual Switch Manager.
  1. Select New virtual network switch.
  1. Select External switch type.
  1. Select Create Virtual Switch.
  1. Enter the name of the new Virtual network switch.
  1. Select External network.
  1. Select the network adapter for your automation network from the External network drop-down list.
  1. Select Apply.
  1. Select New virtual network switch.
  1. Select External switch type.
  1. Select Create Virtual Switch.
  1. Enter the name of the new Virtual network switch.
  1. Select External network.
  1. Select the network adapter for your internet access from the External network drop-down list.
  1. Select Apply.
  1. Select OK to confirm.
  • Virtual network switches are created.
  1. Select the new Virtual Machine and open the context menu.
  1. Select Settings.
  1. Select Add Hardware menu.
  1. Select Network Adapter.
  1. Select Add.
  • Second Network adapter is added.
  1. Select the first (top) Network Adapter in the list.
  1. Select the virtual switch for your automation network from the Virtual switch properties > External network drop-down list.
  1. Select the second (bottom) Network Adapter in the list.
  1. Select the virtual switch for your internet access from the Virtual switch properties > External network drop-down list.
  1. Select Apply.
  1. Select OK to confirm.
  • The new Virtual Machine is set up successfully.
