This section provides instructions for getting started with the Flex Client application. For background information, see User Interface Basics.

 

Launch Flex Client

Perform this procedure to start the Flex Client application.

  • The authentication certificate was previously installed on your computer or mobile device.
  1. Open the latest version of the browser.
  1. In the address bar, enter the Flex Client application website address.
    NOTE: If you do not have this information, contact your system administrator for assistance.
  • The Flex Client landing page opens.
  1. Enter your username.
  1. Select Next.
  1. Enter your password.
  1. Select Logon.
  1. Authenticate yourself on the identity provider.
  • The Flex Client application starts.

 

Exit the Flex Client Application

  • You want to quit the Flex Client application.
  • In the horizontal navigation bar, select your initials, and then select Logoff.

NOTE: It is recommended to use the Logoff option to exit Flex Client rather than closing the browser tab or entering another URL in the browser address bar. Furthermore, in case of computer/Windows session shared among multiple users and the browser tab just closed, when logging off it is mandatory to clear history and cache in your browser, and also close all browser tabs.

 

Change Layout

  • Do one or more of the following:
  • Drag the splitters to resize the panes.
  • When resizing panes, their content adjusts accordingly (for example, text on multiple lines).
  • Select the splitter to expand/collapse a pane.
  • In the horizontal navigation bar, select to open the layout settings. Then select one of the available icons and switch to a different layout (for more details, see System Monitoring and Event Handling). Finally, select to close the layout settings.
  • In the horizontal navigation bar, select to open the layout settings. Then select Default Layout to restore the standard layout depending on the screen size. and the splitters standard settings.Finally, select to close the layout settings.
  • Your layout preferences are automatically saved when you exit the application, and persist across your user sessions.

 

Silence and Unsilence the Buzzer

  • The buzzer on the Flex Client is sounding, and you want to silence it.
  • In the Summary bar, select .
  • The button changes to silenced and the sound stops, even if there are still unacknowledged events.

 

  • To unsilence the buzzer, select .

 

Display System Information

  • You want to view information about the Flex Client software.
  • In the horizontal navigation bar, select , and then select one of the following:
  • Help (Flex Client online help)
  • About (Terms of Use)
    NOTE: Corporate information, Privacy Policy and cookie notices depend on the configuration.

 

Change Password

  • You are the currently logged on user and want to change your Desigo CC password.
  1. In the horizontal navigation bar, select your initials, and then select Account.
  • The account page displays.
  1. Select Change password.
  • The Change Password dialog box displays.
  1. Complete all three fields—Current Password, New Password, Confirm Password—and then select Change.
  • The dialog box closes and a success notification displays in the bottom-right-hand corner.

 

Set Your Flex Client Favorite Homepage

  • You want to set a Flex Client homepage that displays when you log on or to which you want to go back.
  1. In the horizontal navigation bar, select your initials, and then select Account.
  • The account page displays.
  1. Select Edit.
  • The settings are available for editing.

  1. Select the Startup node field.
  • The Browse Objects dialog box displays.
  1. From the views drop-down list, select the appropriate view.
  1. Select the node that will correspond to your favorite homepage.
    NOTE: Alternatively, you can select and search for objects in System Browser.
  1. Confirm your choice with Select.
  • The Browse Objects dialog box closes.
  1. Confirm changes with Save.
  • In the account page, Startup view and Startup node information updates accordingly. These settings will persist across user sessions.
    Whenever you select the company logo in the horizontal navigation bar, the Flex Client page will refresh and display your favorite homepage.

 

Handle Session Timeout

  • You are working with the Flex Client, and your user group was configured for auto-logoff after a period of operator inactivity.
  • The Session Timeout message warns you about the time remaining before your Flex Client web session expires.
  • Select one of the following:
  • Log out, to exit the application.
    NOTE: If you log out, any unsaved changes will be lost.
  • Stay logged in, to stop session timeout.
