Investigate Treatment is a way to send event-handling commands while inspecting the event source.

Select an Event in the List

  • Select the row of the event that you want to handle.
  • The event is selected, and the entire event row becomes highlighted. If any other event was previously selected, it is automatically deselected (suspended).

 

Start Investigative Treatment

  • Event List displays in the main work area of the Flex Client application.
  • In Event Details, switch on Investigate system .
  • The screen refreshes to display the system context. The object that caused the event is already selected in the tree.

 

Get More Information About the Event

You can get more information about the event as follows:

 

Inspect Event Source

  • In Event Details, select .
  • The object in alarm appears selected in System Browser.

 

Check Event Source Information

  1. In Event Details, select
  • The following information displays in a popup: Description, Name, and Belongs to.
  1. Select Show path to display the object path in the same popup.

 

 

Check Event Additional Information

  • In Event Details, expand More.
  • The following information displays: Event ID, Discipline, In Process By, Message Text, Category, Designation, System ID, and System Name.

 

View the Properties of the Object in Alarm

  • Select the Properties tab.

 

Send Event Handling Commands

Use the buttons in the Event Details tab to send any commands as they become available. A typical sequence may include:

  1. Select Acknowledge to recognize receipt of the event.
  1. After you acknowledge an event, if the event caused a field panel to sound an audible alarm in the site, select Silence to mute the panel, or select Unsilence to turn it back on.
  1. Select Reset to reset the event.
  1. Select Close to clear the event.

 

 

Check Event Source and State

When no further commands are available, use Source State and State to determine the next action to take. A typical sequence may include:

  1. Active - Wait for Condition.
  • The event cannot be reset until the event source is back to normal.
    You must correct the situation that caused the alarm or wait for the Source State Quiet, before you can send the remaining commands.
  1. Quiet - Ready to be Closed.
  • You finished handling this event, and the event is ready to be cleared from the list. Select to close the event. It will then be removed from Event List.

 

Handle Event Notes

  1. In Event Details, expand Event Notes.
  • Any notes associated to the selected event displays here.
    NOTE: If no notes were already entered, the following displays.
  1. To add a new event note, do the following:
    a. Select Add.
    b. Enter the text of the note.
    c. Select to save the changes.
  • A message prompts you to refresh.
  1. Select Refresh.
  • The new note displays in the box, including date/time and user name.

 

Interrupt Investigative Treatment of an Event

You can interrupt the investigative treatment of an event at any time, and then either finish the handling of the event from Event List or resume investigative treatment later.

  • In Event Details, switch off Investigate system to display the list of events.
  • The event remains selected and highlighted in Event List. The state of the event remains as it was when you interrupted handling the event. You can resume investigative treatment for this event at any time by switching on again Investigate system .

 

Event handling is not interrupted if you change the context by selecting System in the horizontal navigation bar to display the system monitoring.

 

Manual Close of an Event

When you have sent all the required commands and finished handling the event, the event status changes to Ready to be Closed. Some events can be manually closed as follows:

  1. In Event Details, select Close.
  • The event is cleared from Event List. A pop up tells you that the event is no longer available and asks how you want to proceed.
  1. Do one of the following:
  • Click Yes, to go to the System context. The event source is selected in System Browser.
  • Click No, to remain in the Event context. The event is selected in Event List.
