A control panel/control station can be used instead of the line test device. If a control panel/control station is used there is no need to reconnect the line, and the electrical characteristics correspond to those for normal operation.
To allow the data to be read in, the PC and the control panel must be connected via Ethernet. In the hardware tree a line card can be selected and set to test mode. This causes the line card to be displayed as 'faulty' as long as the connection to the PC line tester tool is in existence.
Switching on test mode
- FC20/FC720 must have access level 2.2 or higher.
- In the menu, select the topology, from which select the hardware tree.
- Select the desired station and the line card.
- Select further commands and activate test mode.
- If necessary, change the IP address to match the control panel.
- Select the connected 'Line Type'.
- Select the 'Connection'.
- Confirm it with OK.
This function is available only in the FS20 ≥MP5 system.
The test mode has a time limit of 60 seconds in the control panel. After 60 seconds the control panel reverts back to normal mode.
Restrictions: Measurement of the line resistances in loop operation can be performed only 'forwards'. The FDUL221 also enables 'backwards', which is useful when localizing diodes in the cable.
