Installing Sync Agent - Configuration - Installation

You can run the Sync Agent software on the SIPORT server or on a separate server.

NOTICE

For installation on a separate server

Make sure that SIPORT certificate is imported as trusted root certificate.

Perform the following steps to install Sync Agent:

• Ensure that your system meets the Sync Agent system requirements. See System Requirements.

• SIPORT 3.4.0.192 or higher version is installed.

• You have downloaded the Sync Agent package from SiePortal (Siemens Industry Online Support).

• Ensure that Siemens Building Connect Agents are not running on the server.

• All database triggers added for Sync Agent need to be active. These triggers are identified by the suffix _SyncAgent.

1. Extract the package into your system to start the installation process.

2. Double-click the SIPORT_Sync_Agent_x.x*.exe installer file.

• The installation wizard opens.

3. Click Next.

4. Read and accept the license agreement.

5. Click Next.

6. Select the installation path where you want to install Sync Agent.
   The default path is C:\Program Files\Siemens\SIPORT Sync Agent.

7. Click Next.

8. Enter the Windows username and password to run Sync Agent services.
   User can be a domain user or local user. For more information, see: Configuring Windows user account for Sync Agent.

9. Click Next.

• The Installer validates the credentials of the specified user account.

10. To create the connection to the SIPORT system, enter the URL of the SIPORT REST API, e.g. https://127.0.0.1:8043.

11. Enter the SIPORT operator username and corresponding password.

NOTICE

Missing user rights

Make sure that the user rights and roles are defended in SIPORT Configuration. See SIPORT Configuration User Guide, chapter User Roles and User Rights.

12. Click Next.

• After the successful verification of operator credentials, the installer gets the workgroup and credential profile information from SIPORT.

• The installer is ready to start the installation.

13. Click Install to start the installation.

14. Wait until the installation completes.

15. Click on the Building X Devices link to launch the Building X website in your default browser.

16. Click Next.

• The activation key is copied to the clipboard.

17. Click Finish to complete the installation.

• Siemens Building Connect Agent is installed, and the service is started automatically.

• Sync Agent is installed and the SIPORT Sync Agent service is started automatically.

The data synchronization must be started from Security Manager (see Building X Security Manager Onboarding Online Help) after the Sync Agent has been onboarded in Devices (see Configuring Siemens Building Connect Agent).
