Requirements

The on-board scheduler requires the Control Add-on (introduced in 2024).
Setting up and changing schedules requires configuration permissions that are limited to the default roles of Integrator and Organization Administrator or an equivalent custom profile.
See also Details and system restrictions.

The on-board scheduler is typically used in a system with Connect Box and LoRaWAN devices (bundle 1). The easiest way to leverage the functionality is to use it in combination with devices supporting the property write functionality without message encoding as described here.

The scheduler can also be used on similar deployments (e.g. Bundle 2) by writing to BACnet / KNX properties.

The purpose of the scheduler is to automate writing to one or many properties as per the configuration defined by the user to automate and optimize building operations.

Set up and configure an on-board scheduler as follows:

  1. Access the on-board scheduler via the Configuration > Scheduling tab.
  2. The example is for configured schedules on the Box and can be enabled or disables from a central location as well as accessed in a graphical calendar view (see step 8. below).
  3. Create and name a new schedule by clicking Add schedule (e.g. HQ Schedule 1).
  4. Schedules operate based on time periods that influence device setpoints (see step 6.) with an unlimited total number of schedules and up to 6 schedule types. The user can name and define the schedules freely.
    • You can copy a schedule to other days.
    • Important: The timezone is essential for proper scheduling. Ensure that the correct timezone is correct and change the timezone in the event the Connect Box is moved to another timezone.
  5. Define exceptions to the general schedule and day (e.g. a lower temperature setpoint profile for public holidays)
    • Important: The order of the exception list determines the priority.
    • Exceptions can be applied to all schedules on the same Connect Box (no need to individually define each schedule).
  6. Select and define the target devices and property value (usually a setpoint) that applies to an active schedule type.
  7. (Optional) Define an application period for the schedule; the period can be freely defined for each property and restricts the effect of the schedules to a certain period (e.g. during winter only).
  8. Save and transfer the schedule to the Box; verify the correct settings in the calendar view. We recommend tracking system response in the first few days and adapt as needed (remotely).
