Always install Automatic File Importer on a computer that does not have SBC Agent installed, otherwise the installation will fail.

Follow the steps below to install Automatic File Importer:

  • Ensure that you install Automatic File Importer in the same computer where the CSV file is available.
  • Ensure that you have administrator rights to install Automatic File Importer.
  • Ensure that all the system requirements are available or installed. For more information, see: System requirements.
  1. Download the Automatic File Importer bundle from the SIOS portal (Siemens Industry Online Support) and extract the package into your computer.
  1. Double-click the Automatic File Importer.exe file.
  • The installation wizard opens.
  1. Click Next.
  1. Read and accept the license agreement.
  1. Click Next.
  1. Select the installation path where you want to install Automatic File Importer. The default installation path is C:\Program Files\Siemens\Automatic File Importer.

It is recommended to install Automatic File Importer in a separate folder. If you uninstall Automatic File Importer, all data in that folder may be uninstalled.

  1. Click Next.

The Automatic File Importer service must have read and write access to the file location.

  1. In File Location, enter the path where the CSV file is available.
  1. Click Next.
  1. Enter the Windows service username and password to run Automatic File Importer. User can be a domain user or local user. For more information, see: Configuring Windows service user account.
  1. Click Next.
  1. Click Install to start the installation.
  • The Automatic File Importer configuration dialog for Building X displays the activation key.
  1. Click the Building X Devices link to launch the Building X website in your default browser.
  1. Click Next.
  • The activation key is automatically copied to your clipboard.

The activation key is required to configure SBC Agent in Devices app. For more information, see: Configuring Siemens Building Connect Agent.

  1. Click Finish.
  • Automatic File Importer and SBC Agent are installed. Automatic File Importer and SBC Agent services start automatically.
  • An archive folder is also created where CSV files are moved and stored after data is synchronized to Security Manager.
  1. To verify the service status of installed Automatic File Importer and SBC Agent, you can click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
