The distance between SEDs and TMEs or the TBR must be well within the Thread signal range.
The Thread signal range in buildings is between 15 m and 50 m, depending on the individual building conditions.
As a rule of thumb, the Thread radio range between two Thread devices1 is:
Range (R) = 30 m
1 SED to TME / SED; TBR / TME to TME;
On all the calculation and planning steps in this document assume a range (R) = 30 m.
The circles below represent the radio range of the devices. Where the TBR and TME devices are cascaded, the cascading devices must be within each other’s field.
