The following part walks you through the basic procedures of controller configuration:
- Create a new project or import shared projects and devices.
See "Creating projects and devices" and "Sharing projects and devices" for details.
- If you choose to create a new project, import a device from the template. Configured and compiled devices can be saved as device templates for reuse by other devices. See "Using device templates" for details.
- Configure I/O settings and create program files for the controller and I/O extension modules (if only). Also, add and configure Server devices if the controller acts as Client in the Modbus communication.
Click "Compile" after finishing programming and configuration. If no real devices are connected to the tool, use the offline simulation function to verify if the compiled program operates as expected. During offline simulation, you can also modify input values to simulate various types of real-world inputs. See "Device configuration", "Programming", "Simulation" and "Add and configure sub-devices" for more details.
- Connect the created and compiled device to the real device and download the configuration and program files. After the download is complete, the real device restarts automatically. See "Connecting to a physical device" and "Downloading configuration and program files" for details.
- Connect to the real device again for online simulation and commissioning. See "Simulation and commissioning" for details.
- After commissioning, export the CSV file under Object Mapping, then import the exported file into Desigo Optic for seamless integration and rapid deployment. See "Object mapping" for more details.
NOTICE
Disconnect the current real device from the tool before connecting the created or shared project to another real device. Each real device can only be connected to one computer at a time. Disconnect it from the current computer before connecting it to the tool in another computer. See "Connecting to a physical device" for more information.
