Add required number of Thread mesh extender OCT110.BR to the project. The hardware is the same for TBR (default) and TME, and the device functionality is set on the device before commissioning. On the out-of-the-box or factory reset router, press the button on the device for 5 seconds to change to TME functionality and joining an existing network (see OCT110.BR Thread border router Data Sheet, https://siemens.com/bt/download → ID: A6V15454242). Note: A Thread border router must be commissioned before any Thread mesh extender can be commissioned.

  • The Thread mesh extender has been installed, is powered on and has been assigned to a room in the planning step (see Adding floors and rooms).
  1. Select Assign to start commissioning. Please note that the status of the device must be as described under Before you start. Click Next to continue
  1. Select Join to set the device in TME mode.
  1. Click Scan and direct the scanner onto the QR code on the product.
  1. Select network/Thread border router to assign to from the drop-down menu.
  1. The Thread device is automatically onboarded. Confirm by clicking Save and then Next.
  • The Thread device is automatically configured and is ready to use.
