This is a mandatory step when accessing Rules for the first time. It is not possible to create a machine user in Rules after this. A machine user is required to perform actions in the background and needs to be created manually by a human user.

  • You already have created a new company in Accounts.
  • You are a member of the Customer Administrator user group and have the Rules Advanced user role.
  • You are the first user to open Rules for the first time. The button Create machine user is visible.
  1. Select Create machine user.
  • The app opens.
  • A Rules specific machine user is created. The machine user is visible in Accounts > Machine users.
  • A Rules specific machine user group is created. The user group is visible in Accounts > User groups.
  1. Go to Launchpad > Accounts.
  1. Go to User management > User groups.
  1. Select the Rules specific machine user group.

Ensure the machine user group has access to all the partitions that you want to run rules, especially to shared partitions. For more information about user groups, see Building X Accounts Online help - User groups.

  1. Confirm with Save.
