Data sources such as utility bills or meter readings from offline sources are only available in a file-based format. File Connector retrieves the structured data files, parses them into a standard format and sends the data to Building X for use by the cloud apps.
Siemens developed File Connector to enable customers to supply a wide array of data points from offline or otherwise indirectly connected data sources to Building X.
Currently, File Connector is the only automated method for importing file-based data sources to Building X.
The workflows to setup and configure the file servers and the publishing system at your infrastructure are not covered in this documentation.
Data points from File Connector do not require point activation in Data Setup.
