Follow the below steps to create the ID card layout and card definitions:

  • Prerequisite: Printer and Encoder are available.
  1. In vertical navigation, open ID card definitions.
  • The list of the ID card definitions is displayed.
  1. Click Create.

Defining general information

  1. Under General, enter the name of the ID card definition.
  1. Enter description of the ID card definition (optional).
  1. Under Field assignment, select the identity type from the drop-down list. Use the same type of the identity which has been defined under Configuration > System settings > Identity management. For more information, see Identity management.

If you change the identity type, all fields must be assigned for layout and encoding data again.

Creating layout

  • Prerequisite: You received the layout files. To receive the files, contact the Technical Support team.
  1. Click Print Layout.
  1. To define the front side of the ID card, upload the .frx file under Front use Drag files here or select to upload option.
  • The file name displays.
  1. To define the rear of the ID card, upload the .frx file under Rear use Drag files here or select to upload option.
  • The file name displays.
  1. Under Map data to layout fields, assign the fields from the drop-down lists based on the field definition in the frx file.
  1. During the mapping process, the data from the .frx file is merged with data from Identity management.
  • The layout is defined.

Defining encoding data

  • Prerequisite: You received the card definition file. To receive the file, contact the Technical Support team.
  • Prerequisite: Key definition has been defined. See Creating key definitions.
  1. Click Coding Definition.
  1. To define the data of the ID card, upload the .xml file under Encoding file use Drop files here or select to upload option.
  • The file name displays.
  1. Under Map data to encoding fields, assign the field from the drop-down list based on the field definition in the xml file.
  • During the mapping process, the data from the .xml file is merged with data from Identity management.
  1. To assign the key definition, select the entry from the drop-down list under Assign key definition.
  1. Click Save.
  • The ID card encoding definition is created.
