This section provides background information for Related Items. For procedures or workflows, see the step-by-step section.

Overview

Related Items displays items related to the currently selected objects. Each related item is assigned a group name that represents the item type—for example, Report, Scheduler, or Trend.

1

Group Header

A name that represents an object-type grouping of related items.

2

Related Item

An item associated with the currently selected objects. You can click an item to open it.

3

Expand/Collapse Button

Expands and collapses groups that have related items.

4

Add Menu

Displays new items and destination panes you can select.

5

Selection Menu

Displays a contextual menu with actions you can take on the item.

Display of Items

Displays the items used for most daily operations. The display mode that is currently selected in the Layout menu determines how related items text displays. For example, text can be displayed as description, name, description plus name, or name plus description.

If you select one object, Related Items displays all links associated with that object. If you select two or more objects, Related Items displays only those links that all selected objects have in common.

The following example shows three objects selected with the following links:

Object

Related Items

EastWingLabTemp

Monthly Energy Consumption Report
Third Floor Heating/Cooling Schedule
Third Floor Temperature Trend

WestWingOfficeTemp

Monthly Energy Consumption Report
Third Floor Heating/Cooling Schedule
Third Floor Temperature Trend

NorthWingOfficeTemp

Monthly Energy Consumption Report
Third Floor Heating/Cooling Schedule

Multi-selecting all three objects displays the following related items because they are common to all three objects:

  • Monthly Energy Consumption Report
  • Third Floor Heating/Cooling Schedule

The other link, Third Floor Temperature Trend, does not display because it is not common to all three selected objects.
