ModBus RTU Devices

By supporting RS-485 connectors (also known as EIA/TIA-485 connectors), the CFG3.F200 provides bidirectional communication between multiple devices mirrored along two alternating main wires, which reduces electromagnetic interference, preserves data integrity, and allows for the setup of a long-distance multi-device serial network with more than one transmitter and receiver.

Users may assign a RTU device following the Modbus protocol directly to COM1 or COM2. The RS-485 connector will enable users to read and write points from Desigo Optic.

Assigning distributions

After adding and activating the device, assign the distribution to enable Desigo Optic Discovery. To assign a distribution to the device, follow the steps below:

Assigning a distribution set will only need to be done once. The assign distribution pop-up will only appear after adding a device in a site. If you do not assign a distribution, this pop-up will appear until the device is assigned a distribution.

  • In Devices:
  1. Go to Sites.
  1. Select the site with the F200 device.
  1. Select the device.
  1. Go to Applications.
  1. In the pop-up, use the drop-down menus to Select distribution and Select distribution version.
NOTE: Verify that the latest distribution version is selected.

  • (Optional) In F200 device:
  • Go to the Maintenance tab in Desigo Optic to follow the software update in real-time.
