Analog, binary, and multistate objects require configuration prior to creation. Use the following procedure to create new analog, binary, and multistate objects using the Templates application.

  1. To create an analog, binary, or multistate object, you must first click on the top-level template and then choose an object template.
  1. Click to open the template’s properties.
  1. Configure the I/O address property. For more information, see Configuring the I/O address property.
  • Click to save.
NOTE: If you do not configure this property, the object will be created with a configuration error.
  1. Configure the Object name property.
  • Click to save.
  1. Configure the Database entry instance property.
  • Click to save.
NOTE: If you do not configure this property, the next available object instance for the object type will be used.
  1. Click to add the object.
  • The object has been created and can be viewed, modified, and deleted in the Local objects application.

If you start to edit an object template and make a mistake, you cannot discard changes and start over. Therefore, you must click to finish creating the object and then click to delete it.
