Analog, binary, and multistate objects require configuration prior to creation. Use the following procedure to create new analog, binary, and multistate objects using the Templates application.
- To create an analog, binary, or multistate object, you must first click on the top-level template and then choose an object template.
- Click
to open the template’s properties.
- Configure the I/O address property. For more information, see Configuring the I/O address property.
- Click
to save.
NOTE: If you do not configure this property, the object will be created with a configuration error.
- Configure the Object name property.
- Click
to save.
- Configure the Database entry instance property.
- Click
to save.
NOTE: If you do not configure this property, the next available object instance for the object type will be used.
- Click
to add the object.
- The object has been created and can be viewed, modified, and deleted in the Local objects application.
If you start to edit an object template and make a mistake, you cannot discard changes and start over. Therefore, you must click to finish creating the object and then click
to delete it.
