The Templates application displays a list of objects that can be created using templates. Objects can be configured and then created. While some templates have core properties that must be configured before they can be created, others can be created without pre-configuration. Click to modify an object's properties and then click next to create it. To create Analog, Binary, Multistate and Module/FLN device objects, you must first click on the top-level template and then select the type of object.

Each template must have a unique name and device instance number. Generic names and unique device instance numbers are automatically given upon creation but are customizable.

Command objects and schedule objects cannot be created using the Template application. Instead, create command objects using Tools or the workstation.

If you start to edit an object template and make a mistake, you cannot discard changes and start over. Therefore, you must click to finish creating the object and then click to delete it.
