Development mode offers an environment for application development and testing, with additional features allowing access to the EdgeOS and file system of the device.
Developer mode is reserved for application developers. If the device is switched to developer mode, the device is reset to the factory settings and all data, applications, and any configuration are deleted. A device in developer mode cannot be activated in the production system.
If a device is accidentally switched to developer mode, this can be undone. If the device is returned from developer mode to production mode, the device is reset to the factory settings and all data, applications, and any configuration are deleted again. Once the device is back in production mode, it can be reactivated in the production system.
