The page Devices > Sites of a project shows the firmware status of registered devices. The symbol below, where the blue digit is the number of registered devices, is displayed when a newer firmware version than the currently installed on at least one devices is available. The digit in the red circle is the number of affected devices.
When highlighting a device, the right pane shows details about the EdgeOS and other software updates under the tab Updates. By selecting the Update button, the EdgeOS is downloaded to the device, and the update procedure is started. After the update, the device is automatically rebooted.
- Perform a reboot from the Devices Application and wait until the device is back online.
- In case reboot from the cloud fails, perform the reboot on the GUI through the remote tunnel or the local network.
- Once the update has been assigned to the device, it shows under Updates In the Devices Application. The device update procedure must be triggered manually.
- Update the distribution which is compatible with the new operating system.
Manual updates
The update can also be performed manually through the local GUI URL https://Connect_IP_or_URL/swu
when the software is available from a different source.
Only EdgeOS images of type release signed can be uploaded.
- Logged in to the gateway as administrator.
- Enter
https://Connect_IP_address_or_URL/swu
in the browser address bar.
- The Software Update dialog is opened.
- Select the empty area to open a file browser or drag and drop a new EdgeOS version into the area to deploy it.
- The update procedure starts.
