VMWare ESXi 7.0 or later is required for the installation.
- Go to Connect Software.
- Download the Connect Software VMware image, save it to your local drive, and extract the files to the to a local folder.
Creating a new Virtual Machine in VMware ESXi
- You are logged in into a VMware Workstation ESXi server version 7.0 or later.
- The pre-installation steps were executed successfully.
- The Connect Software image is stored on a local drive, and the files are extracted in a local folder.
- Go to Virtual Machines.
- In Virtual Machines, select Create / Register VM.
- In Select creation type. select Deploy virtual machine from an OVF or OVA file.
- Select Next.
- In Select OVF and VMDK files, name your virtual machine and select the Click to select files or drag/drop to upload, one by one, both extracted image files from the local folder.
- Select Next.
- In Select storage, select your data storage.
- Select Next.
- In Deployment options, select Thin for the Disk provisioning and clear Power on automatically checkbox.
- Select Next.
- In Ready to complete, select Finish.
- The Virtual Machine is created.
- In Virtual Machines, select the new virtual machine and select Edit.
- In Virtual Hardware > Add hard disk, select New standard hard disk.
- In New Hard disk, select amount of (GB). For basic configuration we recommend at least 4 GBs hard disk size.
- In Disk Provisioning, select Thin provisioned.
- Select Save.
- The Virtual Machine is configured.
Single network mode configuration
- The Building automation network and internet use the same physical network connection.
- The Port group is linked with the Virtual switch that is attached to the configured LAN/WAN NIC.
- Go to Virtual Machines.
- In Virtual Machines, select the new virtual machine and select Edit.
- In Virtual Hardware, select Add network adapter.
- In New Network Adapter, clear the Connect at power on checkbox.
- Select VMXNET 3 from the Adapter type dropdown list.
- In Virtual Hardware, select Add network adapter.
- In New Network Adapter, select your configured Port group from the Port group dropdown list.
- Select VMXNET 3 from the Adapter type dropdown list.
- Select Save.
- The new Virtual Machine is set up successfully.
Separate network mode configuration
- The physical network interface 1 on your Windows machine is connected to the Building automation network.
- The physical network interface 2 on your Windows Machine is connected to the internet.
- The Static IP addresses for the Physical network interfaces (where needed) are set before proceeding with the installation.
- The Port group is linked with the Virtual switch that is attached to the configured LAN NIC.
- The Port group is linked with the Virtual switch that is attached to the configured WAN NIC.
- Go to Virtual Machines.
- In Virtual Machines, select the new virtual machine and select Edit.
- In Virtual Hardware, select Add network adapter.
- In New Network Adapter, clear the Connect at power on checkbox.
- Select VMXNET 3 from the Adapter type dropdown list.
- In Virtual Hardware, select Add network adapter.
- In New Network Adapter, select your configured LAN Port group from the Port group dropdown list.
- Select VMXNET 3 from the Adapter type dropdown list.
- In Virtual Hardware, select Add network adapter.
- In New Network Adapter, select your configured WAN Port group from the Port group dropdown list.
- Select VMXNET 3 from the Adapter type dropdown list.
- Select Save.
- The new Virtual Machine is set up successfully.
