The system requires commissioning and regular maintenance to ensure that it operates reliably. This is all the more true for systems with an evacuation function. Commission 'maintenance personnel' to perform maintenance work.
The following list includes some examples of causes of faults that might be spotted during a function test being performed as part of the maintenance work:
- Contact for triggering an evacuation, through a connected fire control panel, has not been processed.
- System incorrectly configured/parameterized without this being noticed.
- Incorrect system status not displayed by diagnostics tool.
- Matrix switches evacuation signal to the wrong output owing to incorrect parametrization.
- Incorrect labeling on keypad leading to the operator accidentally shutting down.
- Manual announcement difficult to understand or no sound owing to faulty microphone.
Restricted alarms or no alarms, personal injury and damage to property in an emergency
- Ensure that the following maintenance work is performed at the specified interval.
- Remember that the function test falls under the scope of maintenance work.
The maintenance intervals may differ from the recommendations provided for maintenance below depending on national requirements.
Type | Description | Interval |
---|---|---|
Function test | In accordance with the local requirements and standards | At least once a year |
All signal paths and relays | At least once a year | |
At the same time as system acceptance | ||
After any change is made to the system | ||
Keypad functions | Function test after any change is made to the system | |
Display and LED: Shutdowns displayed | Function test after any change is made to the system | |
Indicating elements | Function test of all visual and acoustic indicating elements in accordance with the local requirements and standards | At least twice a year |
Microphone | Function test for systems with evacuation functions | Four times a year |
SD card | Replace with new SD card | After max. 10 years |
Function test
- Carry out the function test at the specified intervals in accordance with the local requirements and standards.
- Perform the function test on site at the same time as the system acceptance test
- If the system is connected to a fire detection installation (FDI), the function test must be performed with the FDI connected.
You can test the required visual and acoustic indicating elements according to EN 54-16 by operating them manually in access level 1 or 2 in accordance with the configuration of the VACIE.
- Check the display and LED for any indication of shutdowns if corresponding devices are part of the system.
- Check the display by pressing the <Silence Buzzer/LED Test / Summer aus/LED Test> button on PT1001-A1 and PT1002-A1.
- Check the keypad functions.
- A full acceptance test must be performed after every time a change is made to the system.
Testing interval
All indicating elements must be tested every six months.
Cleaning the control panels
To clean the control panels, use a wet cloth without any cleaning agents, abrasives or solvents.
