This information applies to the following subsystems:
Siveillance Video and Milestone XProtect.
In the Siveillance Video Management Client, you have to set certain permissions for the Video API service user account.
- You are logged in to the Siveillance Video Management Client on the VMS server.
- In the Site Navigation tree, right-click Security > Roles.
- In the context menu, choose Add Role.
- Enter the name of the Video API service account, for example VideoAPIService.
- Click OK.
- In the Roles list, select the VideoAPIService role.
- Select the Overall Security tab.
- In the Role Settings, assign the permissions for the different security groups. Activate the Allow option as follows:

- Click the Save button in the upper left corner.
- If the VMS is installed in a federated system, select the Servers tab.
- Select the appropriate servers if applicable.
- Select the Users and Groups tab.
- Click Add and select Windows user.
- Select the Windows user for the Video API service.
- Click the Save button in the upper left corner.
- The VideoAPIService user account has now the VMS permissions configured for the VideoAPIService role.
