This information applies to the following subsystems:

Siveillance Video and Milestone XProtect.

In the Siveillance Video Management Client, you have to set certain permissions for the Video API service user account.

  • You are logged in to the Siveillance Video Management Client on the VMS server.
  1. In the Site Navigation tree, right-click Security > Roles.
  1. In the context menu, choose Add Role.
  1. Enter the name of the Video API service account, for example VideoAPIService.
  1. Click OK.
  1. In the Roles list, select the VideoAPIService role.
  1. Select the Overall Security tab.
  1. In the Role Settings, assign the permissions for the different security groups. Activate the Allow option as follows:

  1. Click the Save button in the upper left corner.
  1. If the VMS is installed in a federated system, select the Servers tab.
  1. Select the appropriate servers if applicable.
  1. Select the Users and Groups tab.
  1. Click Add and select Windows user.
  1. Select the Windows user for the Video API service.
  1. Click the Save button in the upper left corner.
  • The VideoAPIService user account has now the VMS permissions configured for the VideoAPIService role.
