The following installation and configuration are necessary, if Siveillance Control should use the VMS video client as an external player. To access the camera recordings and livestreams in the video client, you have to install the VMS video client and the video control plugin on the Siveillance Control computer.
Installation of the VMS video client is not part of this documentation. For more information refer to the VMS documentation.
Installing the Video Control Plugin
When installing the video plugin, we recommend using the default directories. This ensures a simple update of the player by performing the corresponding installer.
- You are logged in as user with administrative rights on a Siveillance Control client.
- Depending on the subsystem, perform the following .msi files:
- Siveillance Video: MilestoneProviderInstaller.msi
- Milestone XProtect: MilestoneProviderInstaller.msi
- Mark Plugin.
- Unmark Provider.
- Run the installation.
- In the VMS video client, the connection status to the Video API is indicated.
Configuring the Video Control Plugin
It is necessary to configure the monitor name in the VMS video client to use it in Siveillance Control.
- The VMS video client is installed on the Siveillance Control computer.
- Login to the VMS video client.
- Open the Settings page and navigate to Siemens Video Control. Enter the following information:
- Ignore SSL Errors: this option tells the plugin to ignore any SSL error checks while connecting to the Video API service. In general, this is needed for troubleshooting when the certificates are not installed properly.
- Video API URL: typically, the URL with the port number to the Video API service
https://[vms-servername]:7442/
- Video API Token: the token used to secure access to the Video API. Copy and paste the REST API token, that was created during installation of the Video API. Refer to Installing the Video API on the VMS Server.
- Monitor Name: the name of the Monitor for this VMS video client. You can delete monitors and add new ones, for example an extra alarm monitor.
- Layout Generator: you can select the layout of the view.
MainTileLayoutGenerator: The layout consists of one big tile and surrounding small tiles.
UniformLayoutGenerator: The layout consists of a grid with tiles of the same size.
- Click Close.
- The settings are checked and saved, if correct.
For a proper configuration the Limit number of cameras in the VMS needs to be set to 100. You can check in the VMS:
In Site Navigation tree, navigate to Client > Video Client Profiles.
In the Video Client Profiles tree, navigate to Video Client Profiles (sorted by priority) > Fed Profile.
In the Properties window, check the value set in the Limit number of cameras to field.
- Continue as follows:
- Siveillance Video and Milestone XProtect: Continue with the subsystem integration in Siveillance Control. For more information refer to: Subsystem Integration with Siveillance Control.
