Positioning Cameras in the Location Tree
Cameras have to be included in the configuration after adding them to the system.
- The Engineering perspective is displayed.
- The graphic has been calibrated.
- Open the Location Tree.
- In the Tasks view, select either an individual camera or all cameras and drag them to the Location Tree.
Creating Camera Sequence Elements
The video streams and recordings of the camera as well as their order and preset position can be assigned to an area by means of a camera sequence element. Also, you can associate cameras to the detectors or areas other than the area containing the camera.
- The Annotations perspective is displayed.
- The VMS is connected.
- To display recorded video clips on the monitor, the respective cameras need to be in continuous recording mode.
- In the Location Tree, right-click the area for which you want to create the annotation and select Create Annotation > Create Camera Sequence Element.
- Enter the following information:
- Instance Name: Enter a name for the camera sequence or annotation.
- Line Number: You can influence the sorting of sequences. The elements are displayed in ascending order in the corresponding drop-down list in the toolbar.
- Active: To include the camera sequence element in the list of sequence elements, keep the default settings. The camera sequence element then is considered when you activate an object or detector in the graphic and the video stream is displayed in a sequence view. To not include the camera sequence element, unmark the check box.
- Camera: Select the camera for which you want to create the camera sequence element.
- Timeshift: Only enter information for VMS cameras, since they record videos. You can define whether a previously recorded video clip should be played instead of the current video stream. To display the video stream, keep the default settings. Otherwise, enter a timeshift, for example 00:30 to show the previous 30 seconds before a message was triggered.
- Preset position: To select a preset position for PTZ cameras, click the drop-down list. When a camera sequence is displayed, the camera moves to the selected preset position.
You can select either Timeshift or Preset position. The value in the Show previously recorded interval field in the Object Properties cannot be edited.
- Click Finish.
- To display the camera sequence element in the Sequence Elements view, click Refresh.
Preset was deleted in the video system.
If a camera sequence is opened and the selected preset position was already deleted in the VMS, a message window appears. When the message window is closed, the camera remains in its current position. If you try to edit a camera sequence whose preset positions no longer exist, the preset setting is removed and needs to be defined again.
Editing Camera Sequence Elements

- In the Sequence Elements view, you have the following options to edit camera sequence elements:
- Double-click the camera sequence element.
- Right-click it and select Edit sequence element.
