Latency time | Delay time, i.e. time interval from end of an event or command to the start of the reaction to this event. Network latency exists on communication networks. On Ethernet networks, this latency is caused by runtimes on the transmission medium and Ethernet switching. The latency time describes the time period that passed until bit received on the switch port leaves the destination port. The period is indicated in microseconds and is based on the switching method. |
