You can mark events and therefore the operation procedure steps assigned to an event for reminder. The event reminder means you will be reminded of the event at the selected time. This ensures that events that have not been fully processed are not forgotten. Also, periodically recurring operation procedure steps can be initiated at the planned time. Events for reminder can either be continued with the last operation procedure step processed or processing of the operation procedure step can be restarted.

It can happen that an event reminder is displayed as unreviewed in the Message List view even though the associated event has been closed. By double-clicking the reminder, it is opened and displayed correctly as closed. The associated entry in the Message List view is set to closed and moved down in the list.

Creating Event Reminders after a Time Span

  • The Events/Messages perspective is displayed.
  1. In the Event List view, double-click an event for which you want to create an event reminder.
  1. Select the Event Reminder tab.
  1. Click Event Reminder After Timespan.
  1. In the Hours and Minutes fields, enter the time period.
  • Enter a description.
  • Click Start Event Reminder.
  • The reminder starts.
  • Once the set time is reached, you receive a reminder message in the Message List view for the event.
  • The entered comment appears as subsystem text.

Creating Event Reminders at a Specified Date

  • The Events/Messages perspective is displayed.
  1. In the Event List view, double-click an event for which you want to create an event reminder.
  1. Select the Event Reminder tab.
  1. Click Event Reminder to Date.
  1. To create a one-time reminder on the current day, enter the time.
  1. To create a one-time reminder on a specified date, complete the following steps:
  • Enter the time.
  • Mark the On/from check box.
  1. To create a reminder in a period, complete the following steps:
  • Enter a time.
  • Mark the On/from check box.
  • In the On/from field, enter the first day for the reminder period.
  • Mark the Until check box.
  • In the Until field, enter the last day for the reminder period.
  • Select the days of the week for the reminder. Days of the week that are not within the period cannot be selected.
  • Once you have entered the period, the Every check box is marked with the possible days of the week.
  • You have defined the period for the event reminder.
  • Siveillance Control checks plausibility of the dates entered. If problems are detected, they will be listed.

Starting Event Reminders

You need to complete additional steps to start an event reminder.

  • The Events/Messages perspective is displayed.
  • The Rate Message window for an event is displayed.
  1. In the Event Reminder tab, enter a description in the Description field.
  1. Click Start Event Reminder.
  • The reminder starts.
  • The name of the button switches to Stop Event Reminder.
  • The time of the next reminder appears.
  • Once the set time is reached, you receive a reminder message in the Message List view for the event.
  • The entered comment appears as subsystem text.
  1. Double-click the reminder message.
  • The event appears in the Rate Message window.
  • Processing of the operation procedure steps continues from the last operation procedure step performed.
  • The reminder message is added to the event as closable, quiet message.
  1. To stop the reminder before the set time expires, click Stop Event Reminder.
  • You will no longer be reminded of the event.

Skipping Selected Operation Procedure Steps with Reminders

Operation procedure steps can be skipped once when a reminder is set.

  • The Events/Messages perspective is displayed.
  • The Rate Message window is displayed.
  • The administrator has made the following setting: The check box for Show Option Restart Workflow under Window > Preferences > Siveillance Control > Events > Event Reminder has been marked.
  1. In the Operation Procedure Steps tab, right-click the operation procedure step you want to skip once and select Skip on Event Reminder.
  • The selected operation procedure step is highlighted with an [X].
  1. To skip further operation procedure steps, repeat the previous steps.
  1. To undo the selection, click Skip on Event Reminder again.
  1. In the Event Reminder tab, mark the Restart all workflows check box. If the check box is not marked, the settings for skipping operation procedure steps are no longer valid. All operation procedure steps must be performed again.

Starting Event Reminders with Operation Procedure Steps to be Skipped

When you start an event reminder with operation procedure steps to be skipped, the outcome differs from the start of an event reminder in general. Changes to the escalation level, keyword, or the auxiliary keyword result in the Skip on Event Reminder marking being deleted for all operation procedure steps of this event.

  • The Events/Messages perspective is displayed.
  1. Open an appropriate event in the Rate Message window.
  1. Click Start Event Reminder.
  • All operation procedure steps that have been marked accordingly are skipped once.
  • The status for skipped operation procedure steps changes to skipped. A cross icon appears in the Lifecycle State column.
  • If an operation procedure step is paused during the reminder for an operation procedure step in order to wait for user input, all operation procedure steps skipped for this reminder are marked with [X].
  • All markings for skipping operation procedure steps are deleted after the next reminder.

Restarting All Workflows for Event Reminders

  • The Events/Messages perspective is displayed.
  • The Rate Message window is displayed.
  1. In the Event Reminder tab, mark the Restart all workflows check box.
  1. Click Start Event Reminder.
  • If the event is opened by a reminder message, processing of the operation procedure step restarts, beginning with the first operation procedure step.
  1. To continue processing the operation procedure step, unmark the Restart all workflows check box.
