In order to process messages, you have to create events. Keep the following in mind when creating events:

  • A message can only be assigned to one event.
  • A message can be removed from an event in order to assign this message to another event if appropriate.
  • The message used to create an event automatically becomes the primary message for an event. The primary message for an event can be changed.
  • Operation procedure steps are only considered for the primary message of an event. Operation procedure steps from additionally assigned messages to this event are not shown and performed.

Creating New Events in the Rate Message Window

  • A message is displayed in the Rate Message window.
  • The message has not been assigned to an event.
  1. Click the following symbol:
  1. Enter a title for the event or keep the default title. The default title is composed of the alarm location, notification date and time.
  1. If an event title is already assigned, it will be highlighted in red. Change the event title.
  1. In the Keyword field, keep the default keyword or click to select a keyword and click Finish.
  1. In the Sub keyword field, keep the default sub keyword or click to select a new one and click Finish.
  1. In the Escalation Level field, keep the default escalation level or click to select a new one and click Finish.
  1. To start the event directly, mark the Start Event Directly check box.
  1. To display the created event in the Event List view, mark the Show Event in the Event View check box.
  1. Click Finish.
  • The event is created and appears in the Event List view if appropriate.

Creating New Events in the Message List View

You can create and start an event directly and display it in the Event List view without any intermediate steps.

  • A message is displayed in the Message List view.
  • The message has not been assigned to an event.
  1. Right-click one or more messages.
  1. Select Create And Start Event.
  • The Event Title, Keyword, Sub keyword and Escalation Level 1 are automatically generated.

Creating Events Manually

Manually created events are attached to locations or objects and detectors. For every selected object or detector, a message is generated from which the event is generated.

  1. Start with one of the following options:
  • In the Location Tree, select and right-click the objects or detectors for which you want to create a manual event and select Create Event.
  • In the toolbar, click the following symbol:
  1. Enter a comment relating to the event. The comment is displayed as a subsystem text.
  1. Enter an event location by clicking . If not preassigned, an event location has to be selected.
  1. To enter more details for the event, use the following fields:
  • Event Title: Keep the default event name or enter a new name. The proposed value is made up of the alarm location of the first selected area or detector, the current date, and the time.
  • Keyword: Select a keyword by clicking .
  • Subkeyword: Select a subkeyword by clicking .
  • Escalation Level: Select an escalation level by clicking .
  1. For Message Data, you can enter the following information:
  • Name: You can enter the name of a contact.
  • Address: You can enter the address of a contact.
  • Phone: You can enter the telephone details of a contact.
  • Email: You can enter the email address of a contact.
  1. To start the event directly, mark the corresponding check box.
  • The event is started as soon as the event is created.
  1. To display the event in the Event List view, mark the corresponding check box.
  1. Click Finish.
  • The manual event is created and appears in the Rate Message window.
  • For each location or detector and object, a message is created.

Displaying Automatic Events

Automatic events can be connected to objects. In this case, an event is always started if an alarm comes from a connected object.

  • The Events/Messages perspective is displayed.
  1. Select either the Event List or Message List view.
  • The automatic event is displayed.
  1. To display details of the automatic event, double-click it.
  • If the event-based processing mode is active, the event is removed from the list.
  • The Rate Message window displays event details and the Operation Procedure Steps tab displays automatically performed Operation Procedure Steps with a green check mark.
  • In the Operator Log, the Event created automatically entry appears.

Creating Events by Using Event Buttons

You can directly perform actions. You can create an event by using an event button. This can be useful in cases where a geographical location is entered due to maintenance purposes and you do not want the alarm to go off for the on-site detectors. Event buttons must first be created in the engineering mode and then activated in runtime mode.

Depending on the configuration, it is possible that this functionality is not available. For further information you can ask the responsible Commissioning Engineer.

  • An event button is displayed in the graphic.
  1. Click the event button.
  1. To start the event directly, mark the Start Event Directly check box.
  1. To display the event in the Rate Message window, mark the Show the Event in the Event View check box.
  1. Click Finish.
  • The event appears in the Message List view.
  • The predefined automatic operation procedure steps are performed.

If an event was already created with the assistance of the event button and if this event is not yet closed, no further event is created by clicking again. Instead, the perspective is switched, and the current event is displayed in the foreground.
