This guide describes the basic steps for configuring a 'PACE-Net' system.

Basic Station Configuration

  • Complete the following fields: 'System Name', 'Station Name', 'Location'

Optional backup amplifier

  • The 'backup master' has the lowest station ID in the backup group.
  • Device station IDs are numbered in ascending order.

Security

  1. Edit the Access Control List (ACL) and manage the access levels.
  1. Set a secure password.

Firmware Update

  • Update all components to the latest firmware release.

'Digital audio matrix'

  1. Enable and name every speaker line being used.
  1. Set the rated power according to the single-line plan.
  1. Make sure all amplifier channels are used within their power rating.
  1. Define the routing of a Digital Audio Matrix before the configuration of the zone select table is done to avoid inconsistencies of the Zone Select Table.

Analog audio input for program channels

  1. Name the physical analog audio inputs and network channels.
  1. Set the gain level until the level meter displays an input level of about -10…0 dB.
  1. Select a network channel number 1…127 from the 'Feed network with' drop-down list for the input behavior.

Analog audio input for priority channels

  1. Name the physical analog audio inputs and network channels.
  1. Set the gain level until the level meter displays an input level of about -10…0 dB.
  1. Select a network channel number 128…255 from the 'Feed network with' drop-down list for the input behavior.

Perform this step for every 'Desk call stat. (19 buttons)', fire brigade call station, and virtual call station.

Analog audio output for program channels

  1. Name all analog audio outputs.
  1. Create the program channels in the mixer panel.
  1. Define the mixing sound level.

Equalizing/signal processing

  1. Open the 'Audio Processing' configuration page.
  1. Configure the delay, equalizer curve or compressor/limiter.

Automated announcements on the SD card

  1. Check that the SD card contains all the required files.
  1. Save additional files via the 'Write to SD Card' functionality if necessary.

Call stations

  1. Open the 'Digital Inputs, Digital Input Mode (Keypad)' configuration page.
  1. Define the default button function as listed below:

32

SELECT ALL

33

SELECT NONE

34

PLAY SOUND

Double-click on an audio file to inject it directly into the flash.

35

TALK

  1. Add 'ZONE SELECT' buttons.
  1. Define output zones in the 'Zone Select Table' for each button, see chapter 'Zone Select Table – Regular Keypad’.
  1. If automated announcements are used, add 'PLAY FROM SD' buttons and define a '*.wav' file.
  1. Name all buttons and use the 'Print Paper Strips' function to complete the hardware configuration of a 'Desk call stat. (19 buttons)'.

Analog audio output for priority channels

  1. Open the Audio Output Priority Table of a station.
  1. Add call station priority channels.
  1. Define a priority for each entry.

Logic Control Inputs / Outputs

  • Assign functions and parameters to each individual logic control input and output.

Checking the sound level

  1. Check that the amplifier functions work.
  1. Play background music into a zone.
  1. Adjust the gain levels of the analog audio output until the sound level in the zone reaches the desired value.
  1. Perform a priority call via microphone.
  1. Set up the gain level with the 'Priority Volume' meter.
  1. Check the levels of the automated announcements from the SD card.

Peripherals and Interfaces

  1. Set up the serial interface by selecting a protocol from the list, e.g., 'PACE-Bus'.
  1. Enable the RSL and specify the digital audio matrix that will log the errors.

'LineDetection' function

  1. Configure the monitoring parameters.
  1. Perform a LineDetection measurement for each line.
  1. Enable the 'Maintenance' flag for faster response times.
  1. Repeat the process until 'OK' is displayed for all lines.
  1. Disable 'Maintenance' flag

Backup concept

  • Enable the backup amplifier feature.

API usage (optional)

  1. Create a 'PACE-Net API' server. (see 'PACE-Net API'.)
  1. Define a static Station ID for every station running the API.
  1. Consider to use the Command line switches ++API (see Command line switches.)

Tablet Designer (optional)

  1. Create a 'PACE-Net API' server.
  1. Configure the external interfaces.
