This error occurs if there is an error during loading the packet drivers. Primarily the problem is caused by a faulty installations or stopped drivers. At least one of the supported drivers must be installed and running.

To identify the problem cause, check the driver report, see 'Driver Report’. If both drivers are not installed, install preferred Npcap:

Npcap installation (preferred)

  1. Close 'PACE-Design' software.
  1. Get the latest Npcap version from the technical support (includes the Siemens license) or download the latest Npcap package from: https://npcap.com/.
  1. Run the setup and enable the “WinPcap API-compatible Mode” checkbox.
  1. Restart the PC.

Note: If you want to use PACE-Design Versions earlier V1.3.6, MP2.1 SR5 you have to use Npcap and WinPcap in parallel.

  • Install Npcap first but disable in Step 3. the “WinPcap API-compatible Mode” checkbox

WinPcap installation

  1. Close 'PACE-Design' software.
  1. Download the up-to-date 'WinPcap' driver package from the following site: http://www.winpcap.org
  1. Run the setup and enable this checkbox:
  • 'Automatically start the WinPcap driver at bootime'.
  1. Restart the PC.

If the drivers are not running, close PACE-Design and open it again with administrative rights. If this is not possible or the drivers are still not running, restart your computer. If the problem still occurs after a restart, reinstall the driver services.
