This section outlines the process for creating job-specific user accounts in an N4 Appliance station.
Default Configuration
The N4 Appliance UserService provides three example user accounts, each with a predefined user role and Web UI profile. The purpose of these default accounts is to simplify the process of creating job-specific user accounts.
Account | Role | Web UI Profile |
---|---|---|
Siemens_Customer | sieOperator | Limited to Operation and Monitoring Tasks |
The Siemens_Customer account is preconfigured for users that are limited to everyday operation and monitoring of the building system. |
Account | Role | Web UI Profile |
---|---|---|
Siemens_Balancer | sieAdvancedOper | Limited to Operation and Monitoring Tasks |
The Siemens_Balancer account is preconfigured for advanced users that may perform a limited set of configuration tasks along with everyday operation and monitoring of the building system. |
Account | Role | Web UI Profile |
---|---|---|
Siemens_Integrator | sieIntegrator | Full access to all Workbench Web functions |
The Siemens_Integrator account is a superuser account equivalent to the built-in Niagara admin account. Siemens_Integrator provides access to system engineering and configuration functions along with everyday operation and monitoring of the building system. |
Creating Job-Specific User Accounts
The sections below describe the process for creating an example set of job-specific user accounts. The example user accounts are as follows:
Account | Name | Based on |
---|---|---|
Boiler Operator | Gene Smith | Siemens_Customer |
fhood | Flo Hood | Siemens_Balancer |
jtalon | Joe Talon | Siemens_Integrator |
Creating New Accounts
This procedure creates a new account for Boiler Operator.
- Right-click the Siemens_Customer account and click Duplicate.
- Name the new account Boiler Operator.
- Open the AX PropertySheet for Boiler Operator and configure the account.
- Set the Password to a default value and set Force Reset At Next Login to true.
- Set Enabled to true.
- The AX Property Sheet should appear as shown in the following figure.
- Set other fields as necessary, then click Save.
- Repeat this procedure for fhood and jtalon.
Disable or Delete Example Accounts
After adding the new accounts, the best practice is to disable the example accounts so that they cannot be used to log in to the system.
- In UserService, open the AX Property Sheet for each of the accounts listed in the Table Example Job-Specific User Accounts and set Enabled to false.
